The Franklin Armory AR-Essential runs on the Binary Firing System GEN 3, better known as the BFSIII, and it's the stripped-down version of Franklin's popular binary setup. You get the same three-position selector and the same core function as the fancier packages, just with the essential trigger components you need to get it running in your AR. That keeps things simple and keeps the cost down without cutting corners on how it performs.

The way it works is straightforward. Position 1 is Safe and won't fire, Position 2 is Semi and fires one round per pull like a normal trigger, and Position 3 is Binary, where you get one round on the pull and a second round on the release. That release shot is what shrinks your split times and lets you dump rounds fast while keeping decent control. If you change your mind mid-string, Franklin's patented selector lets you cancel that release round by flipping the selector out of Binary while you're still holding the trigger back.

What the AR-Essential BFSIII Feels Like on the Range

This one ships with a curved trigger profile and a 4.5 lb pull, so it carries the familiar feel most AR owners are already comfortable with. You also get a positive reset on the release phase, which is a big part of why binary triggers feel so snappy once you get the rhythm down. It's a genuine crowd-pleaser at the range and pulls double duty for competition and recreational blasting alike.

Fitment and Install on the AR-Essential Binary Trigger

Installation is about as simple as a trigger swap gets, and the AR-Essential works with most AR platforms and calibers, including 5.56 NATO, .308 Win, 300 BLK, 9mm, and rimfire setups. It also plays nice with most standard bolt carrier groups, so you usually don't need to reinvent your whole build to run it. This configuration uses a single-sided selector shaft, which is worth noting if you're used to running an ambi setup.
