There's a lot to like about a 20 gauge autoloader that keeps things simple, and the ATA Arms S2 does exactly that. It runs on an inertia-driven action, the same basic operating concept that made certain high-dollar Italian guns famous, which means fewer parts getting fouled up with powder residue and a gun that stays cleaner over long days of shooting. Load it with 2 3/4" or 3" shells, and the tube holds five with one more in the chamber.
The receiver is machined from 7075-T6 billet aluminum with a bright chrome-plated finish, which keeps the overall weight down and gives the gun a classic two-tone look against the wood furniture. The 28" barrel is drilled from 4140 steel, chrome plated to shrug off rust, and proof tested at the factory. Up front, a fiber optic sight gathers light and gets your eye on target fast, whether that's a crossing dove or a clay off the trap house. A cross-bolt safety sits right where your trigger finger expects it.
ATA Arms has been building shotguns in Turkey for decades, including production work for some very recognizable brand names, so this is not a company learning on the job. The S2's wood stock wears an oversized rubber butt pad that soaks up what little recoil a 20 gauge inertia gun produces, and the 14.5" length of pull fits most adult frames comfortably. It also ships with three screw-in choke tubes, so you can tighten or open your pattern to match the day's work.
Between the light-handling gauge, the full-length barrel for smooth swings, and an action known for reliability, the S2 covers upland birds, clays, and general range time without asking much in return. It's a working shotgun with traditional looks, and that combination never goes out of style.

Yes, it ships with three screw-in chokes: Modified, Improved Cylinder, and Skeet. That trio covers most upland hunting and clay target work right out of the box, and lets you adjust your pattern to the shot you're taking.
It can. The 3" chamber handles standard 2 3/4" target and field loads as well as 3" magnum shells. With an inertia action, running loads with a bit of authority behind them helps ensure consistent cycling, especially during break-in.
The S2 is produced in Turkey by ATA Arms under its AKSA Arms line and brought into the US by Four Peaks Imports. ATA is an established maker with a long track record building shotguns, including manufacturing work for well-known international brands.
