The Fortis Camber Rail is what happens when a company that already builds respected handguards decides to make the mounting system even tougher. The whole thing hangs on the Camber Lock, a two-piece clamping design that grips a stainless steel barrel nut and gives you a repeatable, no-wobble interface. Fortis pairs that steel nut with locking camber nuts machined to keep the rail rigid while shaving weight, so you get a free-float rail that feels planted without turning your rifle into a boat anchor. The body is 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum with a hard-coat anodized finish, a continuous top Picatinny rail for optics and sights, and rotation-limited QD sling sockets at the rear.
Most free-float rails live or die by how well they lock to the barrel nut, and this is where the Camber Rail earns its keep. The stainless barrel nut and clamping design are purpose-built for a solid lockup, and because it clamps rather than threads onto a proprietary interface, taking the rail off to service your gas system or swap a barrel is quick. That serviceability is a big deal for anyone who likes to tinker or runs their rifle hard enough to need real maintenance.
M-LOK slots sit at the standard 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, with additional offset slots up front for lights, pressure switches, and other accessories. That mix of straight and angled real estate makes it easy to tuck a weapon light where your hand naturally falls instead of forcing an awkward setup. The 1.34 inch internal diameter clears most standard profiles, and the 11.8 inch length is sized to mate cleanly with a 12.5 inch barrel.
Installation is refreshingly simple. You'll need a quality castle nut wrench for the barrel nut, and the included T30 Torx L-key handles the clamp bolts. A dab of blue Loctite on those bolts is the usual move to keep everything locked in through recoil. Made in the USA, this is a rail built for people who want their handguard to disappear into the build and just work.
Fortis sizes the 11.8 inch Camber Rail to pair with a 12.5 inch barrel, which lets the handguard cover as much of the barrel as possible without crowding the muzzle device. With a 1.34 inch internal diameter it clears most standard barrel profiles. If you're running a different setup, just make sure your gas block and muzzle device fit within that space.
You'll need a quality castle nut wrench to torque the stainless steel barrel nut, which isn't included. The T30 Torx L-key for the clamp bolts does come in the box. Most builders add a dab of blue Loctite to the clamp bolts so everything stays put under recoil.
