The FN SS195LF brings premium ballistic performance to shooters who want to skip the lead exposure at indoor ranges. This cartridge uses a totally lead-free design, from the primer through the 27-grain aluminum-core hollow point projectile. It's the same proven round that comes from FN Herstal, the company that created the 5.7x28mm in the first place.
The aluminum-core construction with copper jacket keeps the round responsive without the complications of traditional lead. You're getting solid velocity at 2050 fps from a pistol, which delivers clean, predictable performance downrange. The hollow point design works as intended, promoting controlled expansion and delivering energy transfer that's engineered right into the geometry.
If you run an indoor range regularly or just don't want the air quality concerns, the SS195LF lets you shoot guilt-free. The lead-free primer and projectile combination means you're not breathing anything unnecessary during your training sessions. Works with your FN Five-seveN pistol or PS90 carbine without any feeding issues.
Tested feedback shows this round cycles reliably and shoots to point of aim. The 27-grain weight is on the lighter end for the caliber, which means you get velocity while still managing energy dump rather than overpenetration. That's a useful balance for both practice and the occasional duty or defensive application.
The SS195LF works with FN Five-seveN pistols and PS90 carbines, as well as other 5.7x28mm platforms like the Ruger 57 and AR-57. It's designed to feed reliably through most 5.7x28mm chambers. Always verify compatibility with your specific firearm's manual.
The SS195LF is FN's standard lead-free hollow point offering. It delivers solid velocity at 2050 fps from a pistol with controlled expansion and good weight retention. The aluminum-core construction keeps weight down while maintaining ballistic effectiveness, making it a proven choice for both range work and practical applications.
Yes. The SS195LF comes with reloadable brass cases and uses a non-corrosive primer, making it suitable for handloaders. However, the 5.7x28mm is a specialized cartridge and requires careful attention to reloading practices and load data.
Lead-free ammo reduces airborne lead exposure at indoor facilities where ventilation can be limited. The SS195LF maintains full ballistic performance while eliminating lead from both the primer and projectile, making it a practical choice for frequent shooters who prefer cleaner air at the shooting bench.
