This kit is made for a specific lineup of Remington guns. It covers the 870, 1100, and 1187 shotguns along with the 74, 76, 740, 760, 7400, and 7600 rifles. Keep in mind the rear sight typically needs to be drilled and tapped for installation, so a lot of folks hand the job to a gunsmith to make sure everything lines up dead straight.
Trijicon claims their Bright & Tough sights can boost low-light shooting accuracy by up to five times over standard iron sights, and they do it at the same speed as instinctive point shooting. The reason they last is in the construction. Each tritium lamp is capped with a sapphire jewel that spreads the glow evenly while shielding the lamp from cleaning solvents and punctures. Those lamps sit inside aluminum cylinders cushioned on silicone rubber, so the constant pounding from heavy slug and buckshot loads doesn't rattle them loose.
These aren't just a nighttime tool. Each glowing dot is wrapped in a white ring that stands out in daylight, so you get a usable sight picture around the clock.
