Fiocchi's Golden Waterfowl line earned its reputation among waterfowl hunters for good reason. These 3-inch shells pack 1-1/4 ounces of precision zinc-plated steel shot that patterns tight and hits hard when it matters most. The BB shot size makes this load ideal when you're targeting larger waterfowl, especially geese, or when you need to reach out to birds working the back of your spread.
Each shell combines treated pellets, heavy-duty wads, clean consistent powders, and reliable primers engineered for confident field results. The zinc plating gives you harder, more uniform pellets that resist corrosion and maintain consistent patterns shot after shot. That combination delivers the densest possible pattern propelled at optimum velocity for maximum knock-down potential. Running at 1350 FPS from the barrel, these shells provide flat trajectories and effective range without excessive velocity that can fragment pellets or create uneven patterns.
Made in the USA, Fiocchi Golden Waterfowl has set the standard for precision, power, and reliability for nearly two decades. The brand's approach focuses on delivering premium performance at prices that don't require a second mortgage, so you can load up without guilt. The sealed crimps keep moisture out during wet hunting conditions, and the quality hull and primers ensure dependable operation in the harshest field scenarios. Whether you're hunting from a layout blind or over decoys, Golden Waterfowl performs when the birds are working and shots matter.
BB shot works best for larger waterfowl like Canada geese and is ideal when you need extended range or are expecting tougher birds. For dabbling ducks like mallards over decoys, many hunters prefer smaller shot like #2 or #4 for tighter patterns. BB is the right choice when geese are the primary target or when you have a mixed bag situation favoring larger birds.
The zinc plating creates harder, more uniform pellets that resist deformation during firing and in flight. This produces more consistent patterns, better penetration on tough birds, and improved corrosion resistance compared to bare steel. The uniform pellets also mean more predictable ballistics from shot to shot.
Golden Waterfowl BB shells are effective out to roughly 40-50 yards depending on your gun, choke, and shot placement. The 1350 FPS velocity delivers good downrange energy, but pattern density drops noticeably beyond 50 yards. For consistent results on geese, keep shots within your comfortable patterning range and avoid pushing the limits.
Yes, these 3-inch shells work in any 12-gauge shotgun rated for 3-inch magnums. Always verify your gun's chamber length and follow the manufacturer's recommendations. As with all ammunition, make sure the shotgun is clean and in good working condition before shooting.
