Description
The FightLite MCR (Mission Configurable Rifle) is one of those pieces of gear that changes what your AR is capable of. It's a complete dual-feed upper that drops onto any standard mil-spec AR-15, M16, or M4 lower without permanent modification, giving you the ability to run a linked belt of 5.56 or fall back on your regular 30-round magazines. FightLite calls it rearward compatible all the way back to platforms built as early as 1963, so odds are good it'll mate up with whatever lower you've got sitting in the safe. This is the compact version with a 12.5-inch barrel, so it carries and handles noticeably shorter than the 16.25-inch models while keeping every other feature intact.
What the MCR Dual-Feed Actually Does
The heart of this thing is the feed system. Flip between M27 linked ammunition and standard AR-15/M16 box magazines at your discretion, no tools required. The whole upper is precision machined from 7075-T6 billet aluminum, with a billet steel feed tray and a full-auto rated bolt carrier doing the heavy lifting. A short-stroke gas piston runs the show, which is a big part of why the MCR shrugs off the grit, heat, and fouling that come with sending a lot of rounds downrange in a hurry.
Barrel, Sights, and Rail on the 12.5-Inch MCR
The 12.5-inch barrel is chrome-lined with a 1:7 twist and 1/2×28 muzzle threads, and it's a genuine quick-change design. Using the included barrel handle, you can pull a hot barrel and drop in a fresh one in roughly three seconds, which matters when you're feeding it belts. Up top you get a MIL-STD 1913 co-planar handguard with Picatinny real estate for optics, lights, and whatever else you run, plus a set of adjustable iron sights installed from the factory. The rear sight adjusts for windage and elevation, and the front sits low enough to stay out of the way of anything you mount on the rail.
One thing worth knowing going in: the MCR uses its own multi-lug bolt that isn't AR-15 compatible, and the charging handle and feed cover catch live on the left side of the receiver. It's a purpose-built machine, and once you understand how it wants to be run, it's a blast. Made in the USA by FightLite Industries.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the FightLite MCR upper fit my AR-15 lower?
It's built to drop onto any standard mil-spec AR-15, M16, or M4 type lower with no permanent modification to your host lower. FightLite lists it as rearward compatible with platforms produced as far back as 1963. Keep in mind the MCR ships with its own bolt catch, main action spring, and a carbine stock spacer, so factor those parts into your setup when you install it.
Does the MCR dual-feed run belts and magazines?
Yes, that's the whole point of the dual-feed design. You can run M27 linked ammunition or standard AR-15/M16 box magazines at your discretion, though generally one at a time rather than both simultaneously. The upper ships with 100 M27 links to get your first belt started.
How does the quick-change barrel on the 12.5-inch MCR work?
The 12.5-inch barrel is a genuine quick-change unit, and using the included barrel handle you can swap a hot barrel for a fresh one in about three seconds. That's a huge help when you're feeding it belts and heat builds up fast. The barrel is chrome-lined with a 1:7 twist and 1/2×28 muzzle threads.
Can I use standard AR-15 magazines and optics with the MCR?
You can run standard AR-15/M16 magazines through it without issue. The MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny handguard gives you plenty of rail space for optics, lights, and accessories, and a set of adjustable iron sights comes installed from the factory. The front sight sits low enough that it won't fight with a rail-mounted optic.
