The FightLite MCR Dual-Feed upper is one of the more genuinely unique things you can bolt onto an AR-15. It's a complete, drop-on upper receiver assembly that mates up to any MIL-Spec AR-15, M16, or M4 lower without cutting, drilling, or any permanent work. FightLite built the MCR to be rearward compatible with AR/M16 platforms going all the way back to 1963, so odds are good it fits whatever lower you've already got sitting in the safe.
The headline feature is right there in the name. Dual-Feed means you can run this thing off standard AR-15 and M16 box magazines or switch over to M27 linked belted ammunition whenever you feel like it. That flexibility is the whole point of the Mission Configurable Rifle concept, and once the upper is installed you can reconfigure it in seconds without tools. It's the closest most folks will get to a belt-fed experience on a familiar platform.
Under the handguard sits a short-stroke gas piston system, which tends to run cleaner and cooler than direct impingement when you're feeding a lot of rounds through it. The 16.25-inch quick-change barrel swaps out in roughly three seconds using the included barrel handle, and it's chambered in 5.56 NATO with a 1:7 twist and a 1/2×28 threaded muzzle. The receiver, feed cover, and charging handle are machined from 7075-T6 billet aluminum, with a steel feed tray and a full-auto rated bolt carrier doing the heavy lifting.
The M-LOK co-planar handguard gives you attachment points at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, plus a full-length MIL-STD 1913 rail up top at 12 o'clock for optics, back-up sights, or whatever else your setup calls for. It ships optic ready with an adjustable sight set, and the finish is a Manganese Phosphate and Type III Class 2 hardcoat anodize for solid corrosion and wear resistance. From an optic-ready carbine to a lightweight support gun, this upper covers a lot of ground.
