Description

The MDT Field Stock takes the everyman's rimfire and gives it the kind of stability that used to cost a whole lot more. It's built around an overmolded polymer body wrapped over a 6061 aluminum core, so you get a rigid platform that still stays warm to the touch on a cold morning in the woods. Drop your 10/22 action in, snug down a couple of screws, and you've got a rifle that carries and shoots like something a tier or two above where it started.

What the V-Block Bedding Does for Your 10/22

The heart of the Field Stock is its aluminum V-block bedding paired with a free-floating barrel. The V-shaped block cradles the receiver on a consistent, machined surface so the action mates the same way every time, which cuts down on the movement that scatters groups. Free-floating the barrel keeps random pressure points off the harmonics. Folks running these have reported real accuracy gains, with plenty landing sub-MOA once things are dialed in. It clears factory and most contoured aftermarket barrels up to 1.250 inches at the widest point.

Dialing In the Fit on the Field Stock

This is where the chassis earns its keep for longer range sessions. The cheek riser adjusts with a toolless thumb screw, and length of pull runs from 13.5 to 14.5 inches using the included 1/4-inch spacers. It ships with a single spacer installed at roughly 14 inches, so you can shorten or stretch it to match your setup. The traditionally shaped stock with its more vertical grip puts your hand in a natural position for a clean straight-back trigger pull, whether you're on a bag, a bipod, or resting over a pack.

Building It Out Your Way

Underneath sits a long, flat-bottomed forend loaded with M-LOK slots, five on the bottom and four per side, ready for a bipod, ARCA rail, or weights to balance the rifle out. Sling swivel studs come installed on both the forend and the butt, and they pop right off if you'd rather run something else. It feeds your factory Ruger rotary magazines and most extended mags, and the magazine latch keeps things simple. For anyone looking to shoot their 10/22 like a proper precision trainer without a big-dollar chassis, this one hits the mark.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the MDT Field Stock use my factory 10/22 magazines?

Yes. The 10/22 version of the Field Stock feeds your factory Ruger rotary magazines like the BX-1, and it works with most aftermarket extended mags as well. There's a magazine latch built in, so mag changes stay quick and simple.

Is this hard to install on a Ruger 10/22?

Not at all. You drop your barreled action into the V-block bedding and tighten a couple of screws, no gunsmithing required. Most people have it swapped over and ready to shoot in a few minutes.

Does the Field Stock free-float the barrel, and what diameter will it clear?

It does free-float the barrel, which helps keep pressure points off your groups. The forend clears factory barrels and most contoured aftermarket barrels up to 1.250 inches at the widest point. It's worth measuring a heavy bull barrel before ordering just to be sure.

Can I add a bipod or ARCA rail to the Field Stock?

Yes. The flat-bottomed forend has M-LOK slots along the bottom and both sides, so bipods, ARCA rails, and weights all bolt right on. Adding a weighted ARCA rail is a popular way to balance out a 10/22 for bag and bipod work.
