The Fenix AER-02 V2.0 takes the guesswork out of running a weapon-mounted light. Instead of reaching down to click a tail cap in the middle of a drill or a hunt, you get a cable-mounted switch that sits right where your support hand already is. It simply threads on in place of your flashlight's factory tail cap, so setup takes a couple minutes and no tools beyond your own hands.
This version uses two separate controls instead of one combined button. The round tactical switch works just like your flashlight's original tail cap, giving you full constant-on power with a firm press. The flat pressure pad next to it is silent, no click, and gives you momentary-on so the light only stays lit while your finger is on it. That pad is rated for roughly 100,000 presses and can handle 3A of current without issue, so it holds up to a lot of use over the years.
Fenix kept the cable short and uncoiled on this version, which makes for a cleaner, more compact package on an AR or shotgun compared to older coiled designs. You get both cable ties and a hook-and-loop Velcro patch in the box, so you can run it flush along a handguard or stock without a bunch of extra hardware. The tail adapter is machined from hard-anodized aluminum, and the whole unit carries an IP68 rating, meaning it shrugs off rain, mud, and even a dunk down to two meters.
The AER-02 V2.0 is built around a 1 inch diameter tail cap thread, which covers a good chunk of the Fenix lineup including the PD32 V2.0, PD35 V2.0, PD35 V3.0, PD35TAC, PD35R, TK11 TAC, TK11R, UC35 V2.0, and several others. On most lights it strictly handles on and off duties, though a few models like the PD35TAC let the pad also adjust brightness while in Tactical Mode. If your light isn't listed but has that same tail cap size, it's worth a quick check since plenty of owners have gotten it to fit lights outside the official list.
