Instead of a fixed port that gives you whatever the barrel manufacturer decided, you get 14 tactile, detented settings running from fully open to fully closed, so you can meter exactly how much gas cycles the action for your specific barrel, ammo, buffer, and can combo.
Where this one really earns its keep is the patented anti-fouling adjustment design. On a lot of adjustable blocks, the adjustment screw sits right in the path of the gas port and cakes up with carbon until it seizes solid and won't budge. Faxon positioned the mechanism away from that direct carbon exposure, which keeps the detents clicking cleanly and your setting repeatable even after a lot of rounds.
