The bolt carrier group is the beating heart of any AR build, and Faxon treats it that way. This Gen 2 unit takes MIL-SPEC as a floor rather than a finish line, pairing a 9310 tool steel bolt with a full salt bath nitride treatment across the whole assembly. The result is a carrier that cycles cleaner, extracts reliably, and holds up under the higher pressures that come with large-frame calibers. It works across .308 Winchester, 7.62 NATO, 6.5 Creedmoor, and 8.6 Blackout, so one BCG covers a lot of ground for builders who like to swap barrels.
The 9310 tool steel bolt is stronger than the more common C158, and it is fully heat treated, shot peened, and magnetic particle inspected (MPI) so you know the material is sound before it ever leaves the shop. The back of the bolt lugs gets a 45-degree chamfer, which helps the action lock up dependably even with hot handloads or fast, lightweight setups. Nested .308-spec springs and a pre-installed O-ring round out the extractor side for consistent extraction.
The entire assembly wears a QPQ salt bath nitride finish. Instead of relying on oil retention the way phosphate does, nitride hardens the surface of the steel itself, which means better corrosion resistance and a slicker running surface. On top of that, Faxon adds their proprietary Superfinish to knock down friction even further, so the carrier runs smoother, fouls less, and wipes clean with a lot less effort. The gas key is machined with grade 8 fasteners and fully staked for a lifetime of hard use.

As with any BCG paired to a barrel it was not headspaced against, have the headspace checked before firing.
