Carrera IV delivers that feeling without the price tag of the big-name competition guns. Built by Fabbrica Armi Isidoro Rizzini in Italy's Gardone gunmaking region and imported by Italian Firearms Group, this 20 gauge pairs 30 inch ported barrels with 3 inch chambers, giving you a smooth-swinging clays gun that also handles heavier field loads when you want it to.
Recoil management is where this gun earns its keep. The barrel porting tames muzzle rise, and F.A.I.R.'s X-CONES recoil-damping system between chamber and barrel takes the edge off long practice sessions. In a 20 gauge, that adds up to a gun you can shoot all day at a sporting clays shoot and still feel fresh on the last station. The chrome-lined bores shrug off wear round after round, and the deep-blued barrels ride under a checkered anti-glare rib with a fiber optic front sight and mid bead that keep your eye moving straight to the target.
The oil-finished walnut stock features F.A.I.R.'s XR-STOCK adjustable comb, so you can dial in cheek height and get your eye lined up perfectly down the rib. Proper gun fit does more for your scores than just about any accessory you can buy, and having it built in from the factory is a real advantage at this level. The tri-alloyed steel receiver wears a polished coin finish with crisp black lettering, dressed up with black lever and hinge pins for a look that stands out on the rack.
The interchangeable TechniChoke XP70 extended chokes let you tighten or open patterns for skeet, sporting clays, or trap, and automatic ejectors kick spent hulls clear so reloads stay quick between stations. The whole package ships in a fitted ABS case, ready for the drive to the club.
It was designed with clay sports in mind, and features like the ported 30 inch barrels, adjustable comb, and anti-glare checkered rib reflect that. That said, the 3 inch chambers and interchangeable chokes make it perfectly capable in the field. Most owners use it primarily for sporting clays and skeet, then take it after birds when the season opens.
The XR-STOCK system lets you raise or lower the comb of the walnut stock so your eye sits exactly where it should above the rib. Since a shotgun points where you look, correct comb height translates directly into more consistent breaks. It also means the gun can fit a wide range of face shapes and shooting styles right out of the case.
Very manageable. Between the naturally lighter recoil of the 20 gauge, the barrel porting, and F.A.I.R.'s X-CONES recoil-damping design connecting the chamber to the barrel, felt recoil and muzzle rise are noticeably tamed. It is the kind of gun you can run through several boxes of shells in an afternoon without getting beat up.
