The 13.75-inch length of pull fits smaller frames properly, the aircraft alloy receiver keeps overall weight around 7 pounds, and the soft rubber buttpad takes the edge off recoil. Chambered in 20 gauge with a 3-inch chamber, it runs both 2.75-inch and 3-inch shells, so there's plenty of punch for doves, ducks, turkeys, and even deer with the right load, without the shoulder abuse of a 12 gauge.
The 22-inch barrel is chrome plated inside and out to shrug off rust and moisture, which matters when a gun spends its life in duck blinds and wet fields. Up top you get a 7mm checkered, ventilated anti-glare rib with a fiber optic front sight that grabs the eye fast on flushing birds, plus an 11mm dovetail groove on the receiver if you ever want to add an optic for turkey season. The tube magazine holds 4+1, or 2+1 with the included migratory plug installed, and five choke tubes (Full, Improved Modified, Modified, Improved Cylinder, and Cylinder) let you tune patterns for whatever the season calls for.
The pump action runs on familiar, proven controls with a cross-button trigger safety right where you'd expect it, so skills learned here transfer straight over to the full-size pumps most of us grew up on. And the checkered Turkish walnut stock and forend give it the look of a proper hunting gun rather than a plastic starter. Factory-mounted sling studs round it out for long walks to the blind. It's the kind of first shotgun that tends to stick around in the family long after the kid outgrows the stock.
