This 12 gauge semi-auto runs Escort's SMART Valve gas piston system, which cycles everything from lighter 2-3/4" field loads up to heavy 3" magnum turkey shells without fuss. The 24" barrel keeps the gun quick to swing in tight cover and blinds, and it is chrome plated over nickel-chromium-molybdenum steel, so rust is one less thing to worry about on damp spring mornings.
Up top you get a cantilever Weaver optic rail with a built-in rear fiber optic sight that adjusts for windage and elevation, paired with a windage-adjustable red fiber optic front. That means you can run the fiber optics as-is or drop a red dot on the rail without giving up your irons underneath. For tight turkey chokes throwing dense patterns, being able to dial in your point of impact matters, and this setup lets you do it either way.
The synthetic stock and forend wear full Realtree Timber camo and come checkered where your hands land. A rubber butt pad takes the sting out of magnum loads, sling studs come mounted from the factory, and included shims let you adjust drop and cast so the gun fits your face instead of the other way around. The grooved aircraft alloy receiver keeps the overall weight reasonable for carrying up ridges before daylight.
The multi-choke system ships with three tubes: Full, Improved Modified, and an Extended Turkey choke for those tight 40-yard patterns. Capacity is 4+1 with 2-3/4" shells, and a migratory plug is included when regulations call for reduced capacity. Between the choke selection and the gas system's appetite for different loads, this one can pull double duty on turkeys in the spring and just about anything else with wings the rest of the year.
Yes, and it is one of the best features on this gun. The receiver wears a cantilever Weaver-style optic rail, so most Weaver-footprint red dots and mounts will bolt right on. The rail also has a built-in adjustable rear fiber optic sight, so you keep usable irons even if you decide to skip the optic.
The gas-operated SMART Valve piston system is designed to handle a wide range of ammo, from lighter 2-3/4" loads up to heavy 3" magnum turkey shells. Like most gas guns, it runs best once it has a couple boxes of shells through it. For turkey season, standard 3" turkey loads through the included extended choke are the sweet spot.
It is. Escort includes shim kits that let you adjust the drop and cast of the synthetic stock, so you can tweak how the gun lines up with your eye. Combined with the adjustable fiber optic sights, it is easy to get this shotgun patterning right where you look.
Not at all. The shorter barrel is a real advantage in blinds and thick timber, and with the Full and Improved Modified chokes included you can stretch it into waterfowl or upland duty. A migratory plug comes in the box for when you need to limit capacity for bird hunting.
