The Ergo 2 is the updated take on one of the most recognizable aftermarket AR grips out there. It keeps the near-vertical grip angle that made the original so popular, which eases wrist strain compared to a stock A2, while adding a softer, grippier feel that a lot of folks swear by once they try it. The whole thing is overmolded in Ergo's Suregrip rubber, so you get a positive hold whether your hands are wet, sweaty, or wearing gloves. It's also virtually impervious to oils and solvents, so it shrugs off cleaning day without breaking down.
Standard A2 grips are hollow and hard, and that finger nub in the front isn't for everyone. The Ergo 2 fills the hand more completely with a palm swell and ergonomically correct finger grooves, and the back is slightly more rounded than the original Ergo for extra comfort during long strings. There's an integrated rear extension that supports the web of your hand, which is one of those small touches you don't notice until you shoot without it.
One of the best parts of the Ergo 2 is how universal it is. The design installs on both .223/5.56 and .308 AR-15 and AR-10 lower receivers with no spacer inserts or extra parts needed, and it uses the standard grip screw and washer with no modification to the lower. It also carries an A2-sized inner cavity, so it plays nice with a wide range of grip plugs and accessories already on the market. The kit ships with Ergo's Gapper, the clever little insert that fills the annoying gap between the grip and trigger guard that tends to chew up your finger on bare-hand shooting.
Installation is about as easy as AR upgrades get. Most people have it swapped in under five minutes with a 3/16 hex wrench, and the Dark Earth finish runs true to color if you're matching an FDE build. At right around 2.2 ounces, it won't add any real weight to your rifle.

The Gapper is a small insert that fills the void between the pistol grip and the trigger guard on a standard AR lower. That gap tends to rub or pinch your finger during bare-hand shooting, and the Gapper closes it up for a more comfortable hold. It's included in the kit at no extra charge.
The overmolded Suregrip rubber gives you a softer, tackier surface than a typical hard plastic grip, which improves control even when your hands are wet, sweaty, or gloved. It's also virtually impervious to oils and solvents, so it holds up to regular cleaning. Many people describe it as grippy without being sticky or greasy.
It's one of the simpler AR upgrades you can do. Using a 3/16 hex wrench, most people have the old grip out and the Ergo 2 installed in under five minutes with no modification to the lower. Just be mindful of the safety detent and spring when the old grip comes off.
