Most folks never give their AR end plate a second thought. It holds the takedown pin detent and spring in place and gives you something to stake your castle nut against, and that's about all people ask of it. Forward Controls Design saw an opportunity there. The ESF-H is a drop-in replacement that fits both 223 and 308 spec platforms, and it packs three quick detach sling swivel sockets into a footprint that still lets a collapsible stock do its job.
You get two side sockets and one rear-facing socket. The two side sockets are rotation limited, which keeps your sling from twisting up as you move, while the rear socket rides free so shoulder-to-shoulder transitions stay smooth. That single design choice makes a real difference if you run a two-point sling and switch shooting positions often.
This is built from 4140 steel, so it tips the scale at roughly 1.1 ounces. That's heavier than an aluminum plate, and that's the point. FCD leans on utility, simplicity, and durability, and this piece is built to outlast the 7075 receiver it bolts to. When paired with a castle nut, it lets retractable carbine stocks fully collapse. SOPMOD and B5 Systems Bravo stocks close all the way even with a rear-facing QD swivel installed, while other carbine stocks want to sit on the number two position if you're running a rear swivel.
Here's something worth knowing up front. Because the side sockets sit where your castle nut wrench notches are, a standard three-lug wrench may get blocked on one lug. A two-lug wrench like FCD's own JCW or an AR Multitasker handles the torque job cleanly. The receiver extension indexing tab can also run tight on some buffer tubes, which is a sign of good tolerances more than anything.
The Flat Dark Earth Cerakote gives it a clean, muted look that pairs nicely with tan builds, and the slightly stretched silhouette gives your carbine a bit of that classic AR10 line out back.
SOPMOD and B5 Systems Bravo stocks will fully collapse even with a rear-facing QD swivel in place. Most other carbine stocks will want to sit on the number two position rather than fully closed if you're running a rear swivel. If you don't use the rear socket, any collapsible stock closes normally.
