Description

Dry fire is one of the cheapest ways to get better with a handgun, but constantly racking the slide to reset the trigger kills your rhythm and pulls your grip off the gun. The DryFireMag D-PDP-RET fixes that. Drop it into your compatible 9mm Walther PDP and it resets the trigger automatically after each press, so you can run rep after rep without ever touching the slide. That means both hands stay on the pistol and your sights stay on target, exactly how things should look when it counts.

What the DryFireMag D-PDP-RET Does for Your PDP

This is the Standard DryFireMag, built to simulate a trigger reset that closely approximates the PDP's factory pull weight. It's a purely mechanical training mag, so there's no laser and no shot-placement feedback here, just fast, quiet, repeatable trigger work. Because it installs in seconds and needs no ammo, you can drill trigger control, presentation from the holster, sight alignment, and target transitions anywhere you have the space. If you later want visual feedback, DryFireMag makes a separate Smart laser system, but the D-PDP-RET is the go-to for pure trigger repetition.

Fitment and the Included Spacer

The D-PDP-RET is designed for the Walther PDP Full Size and Compact in both steel frame and polymer frame, plus Q-Series steel and polymer models, in 9mm only. It ships with a magazine spacer that's required for Compact PDP models. Running a Full Size PDP? Just remove the spacer at the bottom of the mag and you're set. Note that it isn't designed for the PDP F-Series, PPQ .22, or PPQ .45.

A Safety Detail Worth Mentioning

The base plate and lever on the D-PDP-RET are bright orange, which makes it easy to tell apart from your live magazines at a glance. That kind of clear visual cue matters when you're setting up a dry fire session and want zero confusion between training gear and the real thing. It's a small touch, but it's the sort of thing that keeps good practice habits honest and your reps productive.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to rack the slide when using the DryFireMag D-PDP-RET?

No, and that's the whole point. The D-PDP-RET resets the trigger mechanically after every press, so you can pull the trigger over and over without cycling the slide. That keeps both hands on the gun and your sights on target for smoother, faster reps.

Will the D-PDP-RET fit my Walther PDP Compact?

Yes. It's designed for both the PDP Full Size and Compact in steel or polymer frame, along with Q-Series models, all in 9mm. The Compact requires the included magazine spacer, while Full Size shooters simply remove the spacer at the bottom of the mag.

Does this DryFireMag include a laser for shot feedback?

No. The D-PDP-RET is the Standard DryFireMag, which is a purely mechanical trigger-reset trainer with no laser or shot-placement feedback. If you want visual feedback, DryFireMag offers a separate Smart laser training system for the PDP.

How close does the trigger pull feel to my real PDP?

The DryFireMag ships set to closely approximate the factory PDP trigger pull weight, so the tactile feel is realistic for training. Keep in mind that trigger configurations and aftermarket components vary, so it may not feel identical to your exact setup. Tension is also adjustable per the included instructions if it needs fine-tuning.
