Description

The Diamondback DBX takes the layout you already know from the AR world and shrinks it down into something genuinely different. Chambered in 5.7x28mm, it runs a locked-breech, dual gas piston action instead of a buffer tube, which keeps the whole gun short and slim. At right around three pounds with a profile barely over an inch wide through most of the body, it handles more like a chunky handgun than a small carbine, and the flat-shooting 5.7 round means recoil is just about nonexistent. People who have spent real time behind one tend to describe it the same way: light, fast-handling, and a blast to shoot.

What Sets the DBX Apart

The heart of this pistol is its four-position adjustable gas piston system. You can tune it with a flathead screwdriver while the unloaded gun is assembled, dialing the gas up if a load won't cycle or down to soften things further. The forged 7075 aluminum upper and 6061 M-LOK handguard keep weight low while leaving plenty of room to mount lights, lasers, or a vertical grip. A full-length top Picatinny rail runs across the receiver, and since there are no factory sights, you'll want to add your own optic or irons before heading to the range.

Built on Familiar Controls

If you've run an AR-15, the DBX will feel like home. It uses a standard mil-spec trigger, a thumb safety selector, and a Magpul MOE-K grip, all of which are easy to swap if you have preferences. The reversible charging handle works for lefties and righties alike, and the rear Picatinny rail plus QD points give you options for braces, slings, or stocks down the road.

Feeding the Diamondback DBX

This one ships with a 20-round magazine that's compatible with the FN Five-seveN, so finding spares and even higher-capacity options isn't a hassle. The 8-inch stainless barrel wears a 1/2×28 thread pattern under the DBX muzzle device, making it suppressor-ready right out of the box. Finished in dark grey, it's an easygoing, soft-shooting gun that works equally well as a range toy, a truck gun, or a compact home-defense platform.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Diamondback DBX come with sights?

No, this model ships without sights. It does have a full-length top Picatinny rail, so you can mount a red dot, an LPVO, or backup iron sights based on how you plan to use it. Most people pair it with a compact red dot for fast, easy shooting.

What magazines does the DBX use?

The DBX feeds from FN Five-seveN pattern magazines and comes with one 20-round mag. That compatibility is handy because spares and even 30-round options are available on the aftermarket. It's one of the reasons the platform is easy to live with.

Is the DBX 5.7×28 barrel threaded for a suppressor?

Yes. The 8-inch stainless barrel uses a 1/2×28 RH thread pattern under the factory DBX muzzle device. That makes it suppressor-ready, and the 5.7x28mm round paired with a can is a genuinely quiet, soft-shooting combination.

How much does the Diamondback DBX weigh and how big is it?

Bare, the pistol comes in right around three pounds and runs about 15.25 inches long overall. The body is barely over an inch wide through most of its length, closer to a typical 9mm pistol than an AR pistol. That slim, light build is a big part of why it handles so well.

What's the adjustable gas system on the DBX for?

The DBX uses a four-position adjustable dual gas piston system you can tune with a flathead screwdriver. If a particular load won't cycle, you dial the gas up, and if you want softer recoil or are running suppressed, you dial it down. It lets you match the gun to your ammo and setup.

Is the DBX a good choice for a home defense or truck gun?

It fits that role well. The compact size, light weight, 20-round capacity, and flat-shooting 5.7 round make it easy to handle in tight spaces. Plenty of owners use theirs as a truck gun or compact defensive platform alongside range duty.
