The .300 AAC Blackout cartridge was practically designed with short-barreled platforms in mind, and the Diamondback DB15 Obsidian pistol takes full advantage of that. With a 10-inch barrel and a pistol-length gas system, this thing is compact, fast to handle, and delivers real .30-caliber energy without the bulk of a full-length rifle. The OD Green finish gives it a sharp, tactical look that stands apart from the standard black AR crowd.
What separates the Obsidian series from Diamondback's baseline DB15 lineup is the upgraded feature set that ships standard. The lower is forged 7075 T-6 aluminum equipped with a Battle Arms Development ambidextrous safety selector and magazine release, so both right- and left-handed users get the same level of control. The 9-inch V4 M-LOK anti-rotation S-Rail handguard runs full Picatinny sections and front QD sling mounts, giving you plenty of real estate to attach a light, foregrip, or whatever else you run. The BCG is shot-peened and magnetic particle inspected, built to mil-spec 8620 carrier standards.
The barrel itself is a 4150 CrMoV steel tube with a black nitride finish and a 1:8 right-hand twist, which handles the full range of .300 BLK bullet weights from lightweight supersonic loads up through heavy subsonic rounds for suppressed use. Speaking of suppressors, the 5/8×24 threaded muzzle comes fitted with the DB Obsidian muzzle brake, which does a solid job keeping things flat during rapid fire and is easy to swap for a can when the time comes.
Out of the box you get the SB Tactical SBA5 pistol brace, a Magpul MOE K2 grip, and a 30-round Magpul PMAG. The flat-top upper is optics-ready with a full-length Picatinny rail, so you can run whatever red dot or magnified optic fits your use case. No sights are included, which is pretty standard territory for a platform like this.

The 1:8 twist rate handles heavy subsonic .300 BLK bullets well, and the pistol-length gas system is tuned appropriately for a 10-inch barrel in this caliber.
No sights are included. The flat-top upper has a full-length Picatinny rail and is set up for optics right out of the box. Most people running an AR pistol in this configuration go straight to a red dot like an Aimpoint or Holosun, though flip-up backup sights are an easy add if you want them.

For unsuppressed range use, supersonic loads will give you more velocity and energy. For suppressed shooting, 220-grain subsonic ammo pairs extremely well with this platform and keeps things very quiet.
Yes, but with one important note: you need .300 Blackout-specific magazines, not standard 5.56 mags. The gun ships with a 30-round Magpul PMAG for .300 BLK, and any standard .300 BLK AR magazine will work. Standard 5.56 AR mags will physically fit but can cause feeding issues since the .300 BLK cartridge has a different taper.
The Obsidian series was specifically built with ambi controls as a standard feature. The Battle Arms Development ambidextrous safety selector and magazine release allow left-handed shooters to run the gun naturally without any aftermarket modifications. The charging handle is a standard mil-spec unit, which you can swap for a full ambi handle if needed.
