The Desert Tech Quattro-15 rethinks one of the most familiar parts of the AR-15 platform. Instead of a standard STANAG magazine well, this lower runs a wide, flared magwell built to feed the Quadmag-53, a quad-stack 53-round magazine that packs way more capacity into a package barely taller than a 30-round PMAG. It drops right onto any standard AR-15 upper receiver, so you can build it out with the barrel, handguard, and trigger you already know and trust.
The whole point here is fewer reloads and more trigger time. Four Quadmag-53s hold roughly the same round count as seven standard 30-rounders, which cuts down on the number of mags you're hauling and the number of reloads that break up your string of fire. The Quadmag uses a single follower and spring rather than the fussy multi-piece setups that have given quad-stack designs a bad name over the years, and reviewers have noted it runs cleaner than they expected from a high-capacity mag.
The receiver is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum forging and wears a Type III hard coat anodized black finish, weighing in around 9 ounces. It comes with an ambidextrous bolt catch, magazine release, a QD sling point, and an upper receiver tensioning set screw. The magazine release and bolt catch are the only proprietary pieces on it, so the rest accepts standard AR-15 parts from across the market. That means your preferred trigger, grip, and takedown pins finish the build the way you want it.
If you've already got a stack of 30-round AR mags, you're not locked out. The Quattro-15 accepts standard AR-pattern magazines with a magwell adapter kit that provides backward compatibility. Note the adapter is sold separately, so factor that in if you plan to bounce between Quadmags and your legacy mags. The lower ships with one Quadmag-53 in black chambered for 5.56 NATO and .223 Rem, ready to build.
Yes. The Quattro-15 is drop-in compatible with standard and Mil-Spec AR-15 upper receivers, so it works with the uppers you already own. The magazine release and bolt catch are the only proprietary parts on the lower, meaning the rest accepts standard AR-15 components.
You can, but you'll need Desert Tech's magwell adapter kit to run standard AR-pattern magazines. That adapter is sold separately and is not included with this lower. Out of the box, the receiver is set up to feed the Quadmag-53 that ships with it.
The Quadmag-53 holds 53 rounds in a quad-stack design that's slightly shorter than a standard 30-round PMAG, though noticeably wider. Four of them carry roughly the same round count as seven 30-rounders, which cuts your reloads and lets you shoot longer between mag changes. It uses a single follower and spring for more reliable feeding than older quad-stack designs.
This lower and the included Quadmag-53 are set up for 5.56 NATO and .223 Rem. The magazine is not designed for 300 Blackout. Pair the lower with a 5.56 or .223 upper and you're good to go.
