HTI stands for Hard Target Interdiction, and Desert Tech built this rifle at the specific request of military customers who needed extreme range accuracy with serious punch. It has since seen duty with military and police precision units overseas and picked up a following among extreme long range competitors here at home. The .50 BMG chambering is good for engagements out past 2,000 yards, and the 1:15 twist match barrel with threaded muzzle stabilizes heavy projectiles and accepts your brake or suppressor of choice. A crisp match grade trigger and a 5+1 capacity round out the package.
Here is the part that separates the HTI from single purpose fifties. The barrel comes off in about 60 seconds with basic tools, so the same chassis converts to .375 CheyTac, .408 CheyTac, or .416 Barrett with the appropriate conversion kit. Buy one precision platform and grow into whatever cartridge your shooting takes you toward. The full length Picatinny top rail handles big long range glass, and the M-LOK handguard gives you clean mounting real estate for bipods and accessories.
Desert Tech ships this rifle with one HTI magazine, a torque wrench kit for barrel installation, and the user manual. Add glass, a stout bipod, and quality match ammo, and you have a legitimate 2,000 yard rig that still fits in a normal rifle case.
Yes, and that is one of its biggest selling points. With a conversion kit that includes the barrel, bolt, and magazine, the same HTI chassis runs .375 CheyTac, .408 CheyTac, or .416 Barrett in addition to .50 BMG. Barrel swaps take about 60 seconds with the included torque wrench kit.
The HTI was built for extreme distance work, with an effective range of roughly 2,200 meters in .50 BMG. The 29 inch match grade barrel, match trigger, and rigid bullpup chassis give it a well earned reputation in extreme long range competition and with precision units around the world. With quality match ammo and good glass, hits past 2,000 yards are realistic.
No optic or scope mount is included, so plan on adding your own long range glass to the full length Picatinny rail. The muzzle is threaded, which makes adding a brake or suppressor straightforward. Given the recoil of .50 BMG, a quality brake is well worth budgeting for.
It is dramatically more compact. The bullpup design keeps the overall length at 45.75 inches while still running a full 29 inch barrel, making it roughly a foot shorter and around 10 pounds lighter than the classic semi auto fifties. That makes transport, storage, and setting up in tight positions far easier.
