A muzzle brake that earns its spot on the barrel twice over. That is the whole idea behind the Xeno Brake from Dead Air. Threaded on by itself, this omni-directional brake takes real bite out of recoil on .30 caliber rifles. Add a Xeno adapter to your suppressor and the same device becomes your mount, giving you a taper lock-up that returns to zero shot after shot without adding much length or weight to the front of the gun.
One of the smarter design choices here is how shallow the brake sits once the can is on. Because it does not reach deep into the blast chamber, hot gas is not hammering one focused spot on your blast baffle, which stretches out suppressor life and keeps sound performance where it should be. That shorter profile also plays nice with the newer crop of suppressors built around smaller blast chambers, so this is not a mount you will outgrow in a couple years. The Xeno adapter side runs industry standard 1-3/8-24 threads, which covers the Nomad series and a long list of other cans on the market.
The brake is machined from 4140 steel and nitride treated, so it shrugs off carbon, corrosion, and thread galling that plagues some uncoated stainless mounts. Left-hand threading between the brake and adapter means your mount stays put on the silencer when you spin the can off, and generous tooling flats stay accessible even with the suppressor fully installed. If you are the type who leaves a can mounted for hundreds of rounds and needs real torque to break it loose, you will appreciate that detail.
This is the 5/8-24 version, sized for most .30 caliber threaded barrels. Keep in mind the brake works alone right out of the package, but mounting a suppressor requires a Xeno adapter, which is sold separately. Pair the two and you get one of the lightest, most repeatable quick-mount setups Dead Air has put out.
Absolutely. It works as a full-time stand-alone brake, and the omni-directional port design does a solid job taming recoil on .30 caliber rifles. Running a suppressor is optional, not required.
Your suppressor needs a Xeno adapter, which is sold separately. The adapter threads into HUB-compatible cans using standard 1-3/8-24 threads, so it works with the Dead Air Nomad series and plenty of other suppressors on the market. Once the adapter is installed, the can locks onto the brake's taper with a repeatable return to zero.
It is designed to do the opposite. The brake's shortened length keeps it from sitting deep in the blast chamber, which spreads out gas impact instead of focusing erosion on the blast baffle. That helps extend suppressor life while keeping sound suppression performance up.
If your 6.5 Creedmoor barrel is threaded 5/8-24, this brake will thread right on since the .30 caliber bore has plenty of clearance for 6.5mm projectiles. That thread pitch is the most common one on .308, 6.5 Creedmoor, and similar bolt guns and AR-10 pattern rifles. Just confirm your barrel's thread pattern before ordering.
