Description

The Wolfman started life as a rework of the Wolf-9SD and turned into something better across the board. It's a modular, multi-caliber can that lives happiest on 9mm subguns and pistol caliber carbines, but the caliber rating stretches to 5.56, 300 Blackout, 7.62×39, 350 Legend, and .357 Mag as long as you stay under its 2000 ft-lb energy ceiling. This KMQD kit bundles the suppressor with Dead Air's KeyMicro adapter and a 1/2-28 KeyMicro brake, so you have a complete quick-detach setup ready to go the day your paperwork clears.

Two Lengths, One Wolfman

Run it long at 8.75 inches with the KeyMicro adapter installed and you get suppression that sits at the top of the 9mm class. Break it down to the short 6.35 inch configuration at 13.8 ounces when you want something compact for a pistol or a tight subgun build. Both setups run off the same fully welded 17-4 PH stainless steel core with a Cerakote finish, and the whole thing is full-auto rated with no barrel length restrictions. There's also a party trick most cans don't have: the front cap accepts a user-provided rubber wipe (tool included) that seals over the bore and knocks the sound signature down even further than baffles alone can manage. Wipes wear out with use, but they're replaceable with common rubber washer sizes, so keeping fresh ones on hand is cheap and easy.

Why the KeyMicro Mount Matters

The KeyMicro interface is Dead Air's answer to the aging 3-lug system. You get a stronger, more repeatable quick-attach connection without the wobble and wear issues 3-lug mounts can develop over time. It also opens the door to running the Wolfman as a lightweight can on a 5.56 carbine, which makes this kit a genuinely flexible option if you like sharing one suppressor across several hosts. Buying the adapter and brake together in this kit saves real money over piecing the setup together separately, and it means everything mates up correctly right out of the box.

Frequently Asked Questions

What calibers can the Dead Air Wolfman KMQD handle?

It's rated for 9mm, 5.56 NATO, 300 Blackout, 7.62×39, 350 Legend, and .357 Mag, with a 2,000 ft-lb energy ceiling. The bore is 9mm, so it does its best work on pistol caliber hosts, but the KeyMicro adapter makes it a solid lightweight option on a 5.56 carbine too. There are no barrel length restrictions and it's full-auto rated.

What's the difference between the long and short configurations?

In long configuration with the KeyMicro adapter it runs 8.75 inches and 19.2 ounces, giving you maximum sound reduction. Broken down to short configuration it drops to 6.35 inches and 13.8 ounces for compact pistol and subgun setups. Swapping between the two takes just a few minutes, so you can match the can to the host.

Does the Wolfman really take wipes, and do I need them?

Yes, the front cap is wipe compatible and the removal tool comes in the box. A rubber wipe seals over the bore and the bullet punches through on exit, which drops the sound signature below what baffles alone can do. You don't need one for great performance, but it's there when you want the quietest possible setup, and replacements are common rubber washer sizes.

Why choose the KeyMicro mount over a 3-lug?

KeyMicro gives you a stronger, more repeatable quick-detach connection without the play that 3-lug mounts tend to develop over time. This kit ships with both the KeyMicro adapter and a 1/2-28 KeyMicro brake, so you have a complete mounting solution out of the box. It also ties into Dead Air's broader mount ecosystem if you add more hosts later.
