Plenty of .22 barrels out there, especially ones cut with AR-15 length threads, run longer than the 0.4 inch thread length most rimfire suppressors are built around. Spin a direct-thread can onto one of those muzzles and it either bottoms out or leaves the blast baffle sitting way too close to the muzzle. That is where the Dead Air Thread Spacer 1/2-28 earns its keep. It threads onto your barrel first, takes up the excess, and gives your suppressor a proper shoulder to index against.
When a rimfire suppressor sits too deep on long threads, the blast chamber shrinks and the first baffle takes a beating from muzzle blast and unburned powder. Over time that means accelerated erosion, and on a sealed can that is a problem you cannot fix with a cleaning session. This spacer restores the blast chamber spacing the suppressor was designed around, so gas has room to expand the way the engineers intended. It is a small chunk of steel that saves the most expensive part of your setup.
One smart touch here is the internal threading. Instead of falling off the muzzle every time you remove your suppressor, the spacer stays attached to the barrel, so it is not rolling around your range bag or disappearing into the grass.
