The Mojave 9 is Dead Air's answer to the low-backpressure pistol can, and it does the modular thing better than most. Unscrew the front module and the full-size 7.64 inch, 9.6 ounce configuration drops down to a stubby 5.89 inches at 8.2 ounces. Run it long when you want the deepest 9mm suppression, run it short when the can needs to stay out of the way on a carry-size pistol or a compact PCC. Either way, the heavy lifting happens inside the Triskelion baffle stack, a three-legged geometry printed from 6AL-4V titanium using DMLS additive manufacturing. That printing process lets Dead Air shape gas flow paths that simply can't be machined the old-fashioned way, and the payoff is noticeably less gas blowing back through your action and into your face.
This is not a one-trick 9mm can. The Mojave 9 is rated for 9mm and subsonic 300 Blackout on full auto, plus .357 Magnum, supersonic 300 Blackout, and .350 Legend on semi-auto hosts. That range makes it a legitimate do-it-all option if your safe holds a threaded pistol, a pistol caliber carbine, and a Blackout upper. Construction mixes titanium, 7075 aluminum, and stainless steel to keep weight down without giving up durability, and the silver finish stands out nicely on stainless or two-tone hosts.
Out of the box you get a spring and booster assembly with a 1/2×28 piston installed, so most threaded 9mm pistols are ready to go from day one. The rear module also accepts Dead Air's full P-Series mount lineup, including 3-Lug and Key-Micro, which makes swapping between a tilting-barrel pistol and a fixed-barrel carbine quick and painless.
The reduced backpressure design does more than keep the shooting experience pleasant. Less gas cycling back through the gun means a cleaner action and more consistent function across different hosts. Stick with Dead Air pistons for best results, and this can will quietly earn its keep for years.

Yes, it ships with a spring and booster assembly and a 1/2×28 piston already installed, which covers most threaded 9mm pistols right out of the box. If your barrel uses a different thread pitch like 13.5×1 LH, you'll need to pick up the matching Dead Air piston separately.

Some third-party pistons may physically fit, but independent testing has shown that non-Dead Air pistons can noticeably hurt suppression performance at the shooter's ear. Stick with Dead Air branded pistons and P-Series mounts to get the performance this can was designed to deliver.
