On its own, the multi-port design tames felt recoil and muzzle rise with noticeably less concussion than a lot of traditional brakes, keeping you on target for spotting your own hits. When you're ready to run quiet, it becomes the mount for your Sandman-L, Sandman-S, or Sandman-K, along with any Dead Air can wearing a KeyMo adapter, like the Nomad-30 or Primal.
The smart part of this brake is the sealed taper sitting forward of the KeyMo locking channels. Carbon buildup is what usually welds a suppressor to its mount after a few hundred rounds, and this design keeps fouling out of the interface so your can comes off by hand instead of with a strap wrench and bad language. The taper also gives you consistent lockup shot after shot, so your zero stays put when you pull the suppressor off and put it back on. A mechanical detent resists loosening under heat and vibration, which matters on a cartridge that generates as much pressure as the .338 Lapua.
This version is threaded 3/4×24 with a .338 caliber bore, machined from 4140 heat-treated alloy steel and finished in black nitride to shrug off the heat and pressure of living inside a suppressor blast chamber. It measures 2.82 inches long and weighs 4.1 ounces, so it adds meaningful braking without hanging a brick off your barrel. Worth knowing before you order: unlike the smaller DA101 and DA102 versions, the DA103 does not have a pre-drilled pin and weld hole, and it skips the port holes on the top wrench flat. For a precision .338 bolt gun that splits time between braked and suppressed shooting, this is one of the most proven mounting systems you can bolt on.
It mounts the Sandman-L, Sandman-S, and Sandman-K directly, since those cans use the KeyMo system natively. Other Dead Air suppressors like the Nomad-30 or Primal will work once they're fitted with a KeyMo adapter or KeyMo HUB module. Suppressors without a KeyMo interface won't attach to this brake.

No. The pre-drilled 6 o'clock pin and weld hole is only found on the DA101 (1/2×28) and DA102 (5/8×24) versions. The DA103 also omits the port holes on the top wrench flat, which is normal for the .338 brakes.
Dead Air placed a sealed taper forward of the KeyMo locking channels, which blocks carbon fouling from building up in the interface where the can locks on. That means your suppressor comes off easily by hand even after high round counts. The taper also delivers consistent lockup, so the suppressor returns to the same position every time you mount it.
