It threads onto HUB pattern 1-3/8-24 adapters and redirects flash and blast forward, downrange where it belongs, instead of hammering the shooter and the folks on either side.
Beyond just taking the sting out of every trigger pull, this shroud pulls double duty as a linear compensator. By channeling gases forward, it helps flatten muzzle rise so you keep your sight picture through strings of fire. On short barrels it also extends the muzzle out past where a support hand tends to creep, which is a real safety benefit on compact builds where everything sits tight. At 1.87 inches long and 3.1 ounces, it adds blast control without turning your compact rifle into a boat anchor.
The shroud body is machined from 4140 heat-treated alloy steel and wears a black nitride finish, so it shrugs off heat, carbon, and abuse the same way Dead Air's suppressors do. The .458 caliber through bore gives you generous clearance for most common rifle and pistol calibers running through PCCs and SBRs.
This is the shroud-only version, which makes it the smart pick if you already own a compatible Dead Air adapter or want to build your own configuration. Parts are interchangeable with other Dead Air accessories and mounts, so one shroud can move between setups as your collection grows. If you shoot indoors, run drills with a partner, or just want your unsuppressed short barrel to be a lot more pleasant, this little piece of steel makes a bigger difference than you would expect.
No, this is the shroud-only version. It is designed to thread onto HUB pattern 1-3/8-24 adapters, so you will need a compatible Dead Air adapter like a KeyMo or Xeno HUB mount, or another 1-3/8-24 HUB device. If you want a complete package, Dead Air also sells shroud kits that bundle the adapter in.
Not in the way a suppressor does. It redirects blast, concussion, and flash forward of the muzzle rather than reducing overall sound levels. The result is a much more comfortable experience for you and anyone standing nearby, but you will still want ear protection.
The .458 bore gives you plenty of clearance for common SBR and PCC calibers like 5.56, .300 Blackout, 9mm, and .45 ACP, up through .458 caliber projectiles. Just make sure the muzzle device and adapter underneath are rated for your specific cartridge.
