Description

The .338 ARC is one of the more interesting cartridges to come along in years, built from the ground up to run heavy bullets both supersonic and subsonic through short barrels. Diamondback leaned into that idea with this DB15 pistol, giving it a 10.5 inch chrome moly vanadium barrel with a black nitride finish and a fast 1:5 twist to stabilize those long, heavy .338 projectiles. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 with a thread protector installed, so adding a can or brake is about as simple as it gets. Pair that with the pistol-length gas system and Superlative Arms adjustable gas block, and you can dial this thing in for suppressed subsonic loads without fighting the gun.

Where the DB15 .338 ARC Earns Its Keep

This platform makes a lot of sense for hog control, hunting in thick timber, or anyone who wants serious payload from something short enough to maneuver out of a blind or a vehicle. At 5.46 pounds with a collapsed length of 25.5 inches, it carries easy, and the SB Tactical SBA5 brace gives you a solid, adjustable rear end for steady shots. The 9 inch V3 M-LOK anti-rotation handguard leaves plenty of real estate for a light, laser, or bipod, and the flat top Picatinny rail is ready for whatever optic you have in mind since it ships without sights.

Upgraded Controls, No Aftermarket Trip Required

Diamondback did not cheap out on the touch points here. You get a Radian Raptor-LT ambidextrous charging handle, a Radian Talon ambi safety, Radian takedown pins, and an extended bolt catch, all sitting on forged 7075 T-6 aluminum receivers with a hardcoat anodized finish. A Magpul grip rounds out the furniture. One 26-round metal magazine comes in the box, and a nice bonus of the .338 ARC design is that it feeds from common 6.5 Grendel and 7.62×39 pattern magazines, so keeping spares on hand is cheap and easy. For a big-bore AR pistol that is ready to run suppressed from day one, this one checks a lot of boxes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What magazines does the Diamondback DB15 .338 ARC use?

It ships with one 26-round metal magazine, and the .338 ARC cartridge is designed to feed from common magazine patterns like 6.5 Grendel and 7.62×39 AR mags without proprietary parts. That makes spare mags easy to find and affordable. Just make sure whatever you pick up is a quality mag rated for those case-head cartridges.

Is the DB15 .338 ARC pistol suppressor ready?

Yes, and it is one of the best parts of this build. The 10.5 inch barrel is threaded 5/8×24 with a thread protector installed, and the Superlative Arms adjustable gas block lets you tune the gas system for suppressed shooting. Since .338 ARC was designed with heavy subsonic loads in mind, this pistol pairs naturally with a can.

Does the Diamondback DB15 come with sights or an optic?

No, it ships without sights. The flat top Picatinny rail on the upper receiver and the 9 inch M-LOK handguard give you plenty of mounting space, so plan on adding a red dot, LPVO, or backup irons. Most buyers run a compact optic on a short-barreled setup like this.

What is the .338 ARC cartridge good for?

The .338 ARC was built to push heavy .338 caliber bullets efficiently from short barrels, running well both supersonic and subsonic. That makes it a strong pick for hog hunting, deer in thick cover, and suppressed shooting where you want a lot of energy on target without much barrel. It delivers noticeably more payload than typical intermediate AR cartridges from a package this compact.
