.300 Blackout was designed from the ground up for short barrels, and that is exactly why this DB15 Carbon makes so much sense. The cartridge burns its powder quickly, so the 10-inch tube gives up very little compared to a full-size rifle while keeping the whole package at just 26 inches collapsed. Diamondback built the barrel right too: heavy-profile 4150 CrMoV steel with a black nitride finish inside and out, and a 1:8 right-hand twist that stabilizes light supersonic loads and heavy 220 grain subsonics equally well. The muzzle wears an A2 style flash hider on a threaded barrel, so swapping to your favorite muzzle device or a suppressor is a five minute job.
Under the hood you get a pistol-length direct impingement gas system and a shot-peened, magnetic particle inspected Mil-Spec 8620 bolt carrier group, which is the kind of quality control you usually see on pricier builds. Both receivers are forged 7075-T6 aluminum, with a T-marked A3 flattop upper and Diamondback's Carbon lower keeping weight down. The whole gun tips the scales at 5.7 pounds, and the 9-inch M-LOK handguard leaves plenty of real estate for a light, hand stop, or laser without adding bulk where you do not want it.
The SB Tactical SBA3 brace adjusts across five positions on a Mil-Spec carbine extension, so you can dial in length of pull to fit your build or your armor. The Magpul MOE grip fills the hand nicely, and a 30-round Magpul PMAG ships in the box. There are no sights included, which we consider a plus at this price point since most folks are going to run a red dot or LPVO anyway, and the flattop rail gives you a clean slate. Whether it is a truck gun, a home defense setup, or a suppressor host in waiting, this DB15 covers a lot of ground for the money.
It is one of the better setups for it. The 10-inch barrel is threaded and .300 Blackout runs heavy subsonic loads beautifully through short barrels, which is the classic recipe for quiet suppressed shooting. The 1:8 twist stabilizes those long 200 to 220 grain bullets without issue, so just spin off the flash hider and thread on your can.
No, it ships without sights. The T-marked A3 flattop upper gives you a full-length rail section up top, so you can mount a red dot, LPVO, or backup irons however you like. Most buyers of this style of AR pistol prefer picking their own optic anyway, so you are not paying for sights you would replace.
Yes. Since .300 Blackout is based on the 5.56 case head, it feeds from standard AR-15 magazines, and this one ships with a 30-round Magpul PMAG. That said, dedicated .300 Blackout marked mags are a smart habit if you also own a 5.56 gun, since it helps you keep ammo sorted between the two.
The SB Tactical SBA3 rides on a Mil-Spec carbine buffer tube and offers five adjustment positions. That takes the gun from 26 inches collapsed out to 28.5 inches fully extended, so you can tune the fit to your frame or gear. It also includes an integrated QD sling socket, which is a nice touch for adding a single-point or two-point sling.
