The four-position PDW-style stock retracts to bring the whole rifle down to just over 27 inches, and extends back out to a full 35 inches when it's time to settle in behind the glass. At around 6 pounds bare, it carries like a rimfire but hits with the proven thump of 7.62×39, a round that has put down everything from hogs to whitetail to black bear at practical woods distances.
The Plus series brought some real upgrades to the Trail platform. Controls are pulled straight from CZ's BREN 2, with an ambidextrous safety and magazine release that will feel familiar the second you pick it up. The AR-style pistol grip takes interchangeable backstraps shared with the CZ P-09, so you can tune grip size and trigger reach to your hand. The duralumin receiver wears a long integrated Picatinny rail that flows onto the aluminum forend, with M-LOK slots below for lights, bipods, or a sling mount. CZ's controlled-round feed gives you smooth, positive cartridge control from any shooting position, and the receiver is rated for a 20,000 round service life.
The 16.2 inch cold hammer forged, semi-heavy contour barrel comes threaded from the factory, so adding a suppressor or brake takes about a minute. Pair that with the adjustable two-stage trigger and you get a rifle CZ guarantees to shoot 2 MOA at 100 yards with quality factory ammo, and plenty of owners report tighter groups than that with loads their rifle likes. Feeding comes from a 10-round CZ BREN 2 pattern detachable magazine, with one included in the box. Top it with a red dot, prism sight, or a light LPVO and you've got a compact, quiet-handling rifle ready for the deer stand, the truck, or a weekend of steel at the range.
The 7.62×39 version feeds from CZ BREN 2 and BREN 2 Ms pattern polymer magazines, and one 10-round mag ships with the rifle. Only the .223 Rem version of the Trail takes AR-15 magazines, so make sure you're buying BREN 2 pattern mags for this one. They're widely available if you want spares.
