When your muzzleloader starts giving you hangfires or you notice the cone getting flared and worn, a fresh nipple is usually the fix. These are the genuine CVA Ol' Reliable nipples, built from heat-treated stainless steel and cut with 6x1mm threads to fit #11 percussion caps. They're a direct-fit replacement for CVA rifles and pistols, and shooters have reported them threading right into everything from a CVA Hawken to older Mountain Rifles without a fight.
The name isn't just for show. These nipples use a fire-funnel design that focuses the spark from your cap straight down into the powder charge, which helps cut down on blowback and gives you that immediate, dependable ignition you want when a deer steps out. The stainless steel construction holds up better against corrosion and fouling than plain carbon, so they last through plenty of range sessions and hunts before they need swapping again.
Every one of these is threaded 6x1mm and made for #11 caps, so double-check that's what your gun runs before ordering. Folks with vintage sidelock CVAs have had good luck with these where off-brand nipples let caps fall off or fit loose. They come three to a pack, which is the smart way to buy them since it's always good to have a backup in your possibles bag or shooting box.
A nipple is one of the hardest-working little parts on a percussion gun, taking the full brunt of every cap you pop. Swapping in a fresh one is cheap insurance against misfires and takes just a minute with a nipple wrench. Machined clean with no burrs or slag out of the package, these are ready to thread in and get you back to shooting.
They're threaded 6x1mm and made for #11 percussion caps, which covers a wide range of CVA rifles and pistols. Buyers have installed them in CVA Hawken and older Mountain Rifle models with a clean fit. Before ordering, confirm your gun uses a 6x1mm nipple and #11 caps, since that's what these are cut for.
If the top of the nipple looks flared, mushroomed, or worn from repeated capping and dry firing, it's time for a fresh one. A worn nipple can cause caps to fit loose, misfires, or excessive blowback. Swapping it out with a nipple wrench takes about a minute and restores dependable ignition.
The fire-funnel channel focuses the spark from the percussion cap directly down into your powder charge. That helps deliver immediate ignition while cutting down on blowback through the nipple. The result is more consistent, reliable firing shot after shot.
Nipples are a wear item that take a beating from every cap you fire, so having spares on hand is just smart. The 3-pack lets you replace one now and stash the extras in your possibles bag or range box. That way you're never stuck field-side with a worn nipple and no backup.
