Left-handed hunters know the drill. Half the rifles worth owning never come in a true lefty configuration, and the ones that do usually skip the newest chamberings. CVA broke that pattern with this Cascade XT, a genuine left-hand bolt action chambered in 7mm PRC, one of the most capable long-range hunting cartridges to come along in years. Pushing heavy, high-BC 7mm bullets at close to 3,000 fps, it flies flat, bucks wind, and hits hard way out there, which makes it a natural fit for elk, mule deer, and open-country whitetails.
The XT is the precision-minded member of the Cascade family, and the barrel is where it earns the name. The 24 inch #5 taper barrel is heavier than a standard sporter contour, which adds steadiness on the shot and keeps groups tight when you send several rounds downrange. Fluting trims some of that weight back and helps the barrel shed heat. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 and wears a radial brake from the factory, so the 7mm PRC feels far more polite than the ballistics would suggest. Pull the brake and spin on a suppressor whenever you are ready. A 1:8 twist stabilizes the long, sleek bullets this cartridge was designed around.
The OD green synthetic stock with black webbing wears CVA's grippy SoftTouch finish, and the metalwork is coated in Graphite Black Cerakote to shrug off weather. The oversized tactical-style bolt knob gives you extra leverage for fast, positive cycling, especially handy when you are stretched out prone behind the rifle. A flush-fit detachable magazine, a conveniently placed two-position safety, and a factory-installed Picatinny rail round things out, so all that is left is mounting glass and finding a load your barrel likes. For lefties chasing a serious long-range hunting rifle, this one checks the boxes.
This is a genuine left-hand bolt action, with the bolt handle and ejection port on the left side of the receiver. Everything about the rifle is set up for a left-handed shooter, so you cycle the bolt with your dominant hand without breaking your cheek weld.
Milder than you would expect. Between the heavier #5 contour barrel adding weight up front and the factory radial muzzle brake bleeding off gas, felt recoil lands closer to a light-kicking short action than a magnum. That makes it comfortable for extended range sessions and load development.
Yes. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24, which is the standard pattern for most .30 caliber and smaller suppressors and brakes. Just remove the included radial brake and thread your can on directly or with your preferred mount.
The flush-fit detachable magazine holds two rounds in this chambering, giving you 2+1 total with one in the chamber. The 7mm PRC's fat case takes up more room than standard long-action cartridges, which is why capacity is lower than the 3+1 you see in other Cascade long actions. Spare magazines are available directly from CVA.
