CVA took the Cascade platform that earned a loyal following among budget-minded hunters and stretched its legs for real distance work. The LR Hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor wears a fluted medium-heavy contour barrel, 22 inches long and threaded 5/8×24, with a radial muzzle brake on the end to tame recoil and keep you on target through the spotting scope. A 20 MOA Picatinny rail comes installed from the factory, which gives your scope the extra elevation travel you want when dialing for longer shots. The whole barreled action is finished in Smoked Bronze Cerakote, so a wet week in elk camp is nothing to worry about.
The synthetic stock, black with smoked bronze webbing, borrows heavily from the competition world. The forend is flat and wide, so it rides bags, packs, rocks, and tripod saddles without rocking around. Removable spacers adjust length of pull from roughly 13 to 14 inches, and the adjustable comb gets your eye lined up behind the scope the same way every time. That kind of consistent fit matters more than most people realize when the shot stretches past a few hundred yards.
Underneath it all is the same smooth three-lug bolt that made the standard Cascade a sleeper hit, with a 70 degree throw for fast cycling and plenty of scope clearance. The oversized bolt knob is easy to run with cold hands or gloves. The trigger is user adjustable and breaks clean right out of the box, and CVA backs the rifle with an MOA-capable accuracy guarantee. A two-position safety lets you cycle the bolt while engaged, which makes loading and unloading a little less nerve-wracking in the field.
The 6.5 Creedmoor chambering with a 1:8 twist stabilizes the long, high-BC bullets that make this cartridge such a favorite for deer, antelope, and even elk at reasonable ranges. Feeding comes from a flush-fit 4-round detachable box magazine, giving you 4+1 on tap. At around 8.5 pounds bare, it carries fine and settles down beautifully when it counts.
Yes, it ships with a 20 MOA Picatinny rail already installed on the receiver. The 20 MOA cant gives your scope extra elevation adjustment for stretching shots out past typical hunting distances. You just need rings and glass and you are ready to zero.
The muzzle is threaded in the common 5/8×24 pattern, so it accepts most 6.5mm and .30 caliber suppressors and muzzle devices. It comes from the factory with a radial brake installed, which you can swap off whenever you want to mount a can.
