The Crimson Trace LTG-773 Lightguard was built for one job and does it well: putting a dependable beam of white light on target from a pistol that barely has room to spare. It clamps securely around the trigger guard of Glock's slimline single-stack pistols, so you get a real weapon-mounted light on a gun that was never designed with a light rail. For folks running a G42, G43, G43X or G48 as a carry or nightstand gun, that fills a gap most other lights just can't reach.
The LED puts out 110 lumens of white light, which is plenty for identifying what's in front of you inside a home or across a room at night. Activation is where this one really shines. It uses ambidextrous Instant Activation with both constant-on and momentary modes, so a righty or lefty can light it up instantly and choose whether the beam stays on or only burns while you hold the switch. That kind of light discipline matters when you don't want to give away your position.
The housing is ruggedized polymer that holds up to the recoil and knocks of everyday carry while keeping the whole package light. It runs on two 1/3N batteries, which come in the box, and delivers over an hour of runtime. One of the smarter touches is the rapid-change battery cap, letting you swap cells without pulling the light off your pistol, so your zeroed setup stays put.
Installation is a user-friendly job you can knock out at the kitchen table in a few minutes, no gunsmith required. Keep in mind that adding any trigger-guard unit changes the profile of your pistol, so you'll want a holster cut specifically for a Glock slimline with the Lightguard mounted. Plenty of kydex makers offer that fit, and it's worth sorting out before you commit to daily carry.
The LTG-773 is made for Glock's slimline single-stack lineup, specifically the G42, G43, G43X and G48. It mounts around the trigger guard rather than a light rail, which is what makes it work on these compact pistols. It will not fit larger double-stack Glocks like the G17 or G19.
