The stock Glock mag release gets the job done, but it leaves a lot of speed on the table. The Cross Armory CRG5MCBL gives your thumb a bigger, better-shaped surface to drive into, so mag changes feel quicker and more natural under pressure. It sits extended without sticking out far enough to catch on your gear or hang up when you draw from a holster, which is the balance a lot of aftermarket catches miss.
The profile is ramped up from the root of your thumb, giving you a smooth path from the frame right onto the release surface. Cross Armory built this because they weren't happy with the options out there. Go too small and reloads get clumsy in a hurry; go too big and you're fighting your holster all day. This one lands in the middle, and the machined ridges are cut to match Glock's styling so it looks like it belongs on the gun.
This catch is CNC machined from 7075-T6 billet aircraft aluminum, not cast, then blue anodized for a durable finish and corrosion resistance. That machined-from-billet construction is where the strength comes from, and the anodizing gives you that pop of blue color that ties in nicely with other Cross Armory accessories if you're building out a themed setup.
It fits Gen4 and Gen5 models including the 17, 19, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 29, 31, 32, 33, 34, and 35. Installation runs a few minutes with a pick tool and needle nose pliers, and there's no gunsmithing involved. Righty or lefty, you can orient the catch to whichever side works for you, so southpaws aren't left out.
The CRG5MCBL is made for Glock Gen4 and Gen5 pistols, covering the 17, 19, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 29, 31, 32, 33, 34, and 35. If your pistol is a Gen4 or Gen5 in that lineup, you're good to go. Double-check your generation on the frame before ordering since Gen1-3 use a different catch.
Not at all. Most people have it swapped in within a few minutes using a pick tool to release the retaining bar and needle nose pliers to pull the spring rod. There's no gunsmithing or permanent modification, so if you can field strip your Glock you can handle this.
Yes. When you install it, you can set the orientation to either side of the frame, so you're free to run it as a lefty setup. Just place it in the direction that suits your grip when you drop it into the magwell.
It's designed to avoid that. Cross Armory built the profile to give you more surface to hit without protruding far enough to hang up on a holster or your clothing during the draw. It's a deliberate middle ground between a stock catch and the oversized ones that catch on everything.
