Maxim Defense CQB Standard Buffer & Spring – 3.3 oz STD

Description

Maxim's CQB stock is a great piece of kit, but it runs on its own buffer and spring rather than a standard carbine setup. That's where this Standard Buffer & Spring comes in. It's the 3.3 oz configuration built to drop straight into the Maxim Defense CQB stock and brace platforms, giving you a dialed-in recoil system that's matched to that short buffer tube length.

The build here is what sets it apart from a bargain-bin carbine buffer. It uses a tungsten and stainless steel construction with a natural finish, so you're getting real material behind the weight rather than a hollow shell. The standard weight lands at 3.3 ounces, which is the go-to for typical mid-length and carbine gas builds where you want reliable cycling without overdoing the bolt speed.

Why the CQB Standard Buffer & Spring Fits Where Others Don't

This is not a universal AR-15 buffer, and that's the point. The CQB stock uses a shortened tube, so a standard carbine buffer and spring simply won't work in it. Maxim designed this combo as an alternative to running a JP Silent Captured Spring in that platform, giving you a straightforward buffer-and-spring pairing that's ready to go. Folks running short-barreled builds and pistol-braced uppers reach for this as their baseline setup.

Dialing In Your CQB Buffer & Spring Weight

The standard 3.3 oz is your starting point for most gas-length builds shooting unsuppressed. If you're running a shorter barrel, a can, or you're fighting over-gassing, Maxim offers this same system in heavier H1, H2, and H3 weights, plus a 7.6 oz pistol-caliber version for 9mm. Buffer tuning depends on your gas system, barrel length, and whether you shoot suppressed, so it pays to match the weight to how your rifle actually runs. For a lot of standard CQB-equipped setups, this 3.3 oz combo is exactly what the doctor ordered.
