Once downrange, the design shifts into protection mode through controlled expansion.
The round starts with a copper-jacketed lead core shaped into a specially designed cavity. The polymer ball sits crimped at the tip, giving the bullet a full metal jacket-like profile. During flight, the ball helps with aerodynamics. On impact, it gets pushed aside as the lead core expands through the cavity. The result is penetration that won't over-penetrate while still delivering stopping power. The whole thing is engineered around one goal: give you a cartridge that feeds reliably and expands consistently, without the common problems that plague traditional defensive loads.
This 165-grain load runs at 1225 feet per second from the muzzle, producing 550 foot-pounds of energy. That velocity is hot enough to matter, and the lighter bullet weight helps with recoil recovery between shots compared to standard 230-grain loads.
