There is a sweet spot in the AR pistol world, and 10.5 inches is right in the middle of it. The Combat Armory CA-15 in 5.56 NATO gives you enough barrel to keep velocity respectable while staying short enough to move through tight spaces or ride quietly in a truck bag. Combat Armory builds these with mil-spec components throughout, so parts swaps and upgrades down the road are simple, and the whole package wears a hard coat anodized black finish that shrugs off daily handling.
The barrel is where this one earns its keep. It is 4140 chrome moly vanadium steel with a Melonite finish inside and out, which means better corrosion resistance and a longer service life than plain phosphate barrels. The M4 profile and M4 feed ramps keep feeding reliable with a wide range of ammo, and the 1:7 twist rate stabilizes everything from light varmint loads to heavy 77 grain match bullets. The muzzle is threaded 1/2×28, so adding your favorite muzzle device or suppressor is a five minute job.
Plenty of budget AR pistols cut corners on the receivers. Combat Armory went the other way, machining the lower from billet 7075-T6 aluminum with a Type III anodized finish. Up top, the slim profile 10 inch M-LOK handguard free floats the barrel and gives you real estate for lights, hand stops, or a sling mount without adding bulk where your support hand lives. The charging handle, safety, and fire control group are all mil-spec, and the pistol buffer tube is ready for the setup of your choice.
This is a great fit for anyone who wants a compact 5.56 for home defense, a lightweight trainer, or just a fun range gun that does not take up much space in the safe. It comes with one 10 round magazine, and since it runs standard AR-15 mags, feeding it more capacity later is easy. Solid build, proven components, and a barrel that will outlast most owners. Hard to argue with that.
No, this model ships with a bare pistol buffer tube. That gives you a blank slate to set it up however you like. The tube is standard, so accessories designed for pistol buffer tubes will fit.
Yes. The barrel is threaded 1/2×28, which is the standard thread pitch for 5.56 muzzle devices and suppressor mounts. Swapping in a flash hider, comp, or suppressor mount is quick and straightforward.
A 1:7 twist is on the faster side, which makes it a great match for heavier bullets in the 62 to 77 grain range. It still shoots common 55 grain ball ammo just fine, so you can train with the cheap stuff and load up heavier rounds when it matters. The 5.56 chamber also lets you safely run both 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington.
It will. The Combat Armory CA-15 is built to mil-spec dimensions and runs standard AR-15 pattern magazines, including PMAGs and aluminum GI mags. It includes one 10 round magazine in the box, and higher capacity mags drop right in.
