Colt kept its AR lineup pretty traditional for a long time, so when the EPR-II showed up with a free-float M-LOK rail and Magpul furniture from the factory, plenty of us took notice. This is the LE6933-EPRII, the 11.5 inch short barreled rifle version of Colt's Enhanced Patrol Rifle II, and it brings the same TDP-spec build quality Colt is known for. The chrome-lined barrel and bolt carrier group are built to mil-spec standards, with high pressure testing and magnetic particle inspection on every bolt and barrel. That pedigree matters when the whole point of a duty-style carbine is that it runs no matter what.
The big story here is the handguard. Colt's new free-float rail gives you a continuous MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny top rail, seven orientations of M-LOK slots, anti-rotation tabs, and two steel-reinforced QD sling sockets built right in. Lights, lasers, hand stops, sling, whatever your setup calls for, it mounts clean without hose clamps or adapters. Up top you get Magpul MBUS 3 folding sights, and the furniture is rounded out with a Magpul MOE SL stock and enhanced trigger guard. An ambidextrous safety selector comes standard, which left-handed folks will appreciate right away.
An 11.5 inch barrel hits a sweet spot for a 5.56 gun. It stays compact for tight spaces and vehicle work while keeping enough gas system and velocity to run reliably, something shorter builds sometimes struggle with. The muzzle is threaded 1/2×28, and Colt built the whole package to be suppressor-ready, so adding a can later is painless. The upper receiver forging carries the M4 cage code marking paired with an LE-market lower, a nice detail for collectors and Colt fans who care about lineage. It ships with one 30-round magazine and is ready for the range the day it comes home.
Both share the same 11.5 inch chrome-lined barrel, free-float M-LOK rail, MOE SL stock, and ambidextrous safety. The Pro version adds a Radian Raptor ambidextrous charging handle, an ambi mag catch, a Magpul MOE-K2 grip, a QD receiver end plate, and swaps the MBUS 3 sights for steel MBUS Pro sights. The standard EPR-II covers the essentials at a friendlier price point, and both come suppressor-ready.
Yes, that is a big part of the design. The barrel comes threaded 1/2×28 from the factory and Colt built the EPR-II line to be suppressor-ready. An 11.5 inch 5.56 barrel with a can attached ends up close to the overall length of a bare 16 inch gun, which is why this setup is so popular for suppressed shooting.
The MBUS 3 is Magpul's latest generation polymer folding sight, with a slimmer profile and an improved tool-less front post adjustment over earlier MBUS models. They are plenty durable for range work and backup duty behind an optic. If you want steel sights, the MBUS Pro units on the EPR-II Pro or an aftermarket set will bolt right onto the full-length top rail.
It is. Colt chrome-lines the bore for corrosion resistance and long service life under heat and heavy round counts. Every bolt and barrel also goes through high pressure testing and magnetic particle inspection, the same quality checks applied to Colt's military carbines.
