Few revolvers carry the kind of reputation the Anaconda does, and Colt did right by the name when they brought it back. This modern version is built around an oversized Python action with a bulked-up stainless steel frame, which means the lockwork that made the Python famous is scaled up to handle full-house .44 Magnum loads all day long. The linear leaf spring action gives you a smooth, non-stacking trigger pull in double action, and the single action break is crisp enough to make ringing steel at distance feel routine.
The 4.25-inch barrel is the do-it-all length in the Anaconda lineup. It balances well in the hand, clears a holster quickly, and still gives magnum loads enough runway to perform. At 42 ounces of solid stainless steel, this revolver soaks up recoil far better than lighter big-bores, and the semi-bright finish shrugs off weather and holster wear. A recessed target crown protects the muzzle, and the frame comes drilled and tapped, so adding a red dot down the road is a straightforward job. Trail carry, hog hunting, backup in bear country, or just a satisfying range day, this length handles all of it.
Up top you get a red ramp front sight paired with a rear that adjusts for windage and elevation, and the sights are interchangeable with a simple Allen key. The black Hogue overmolded rubber grips have finger grooves that lock your hand in place and take real bite out of magnum recoil. They also swap with any Colt Python grip, so dressing it up with wood later is easy. When the recoil of full magnums gets old, .44 Special loads turn this into a soft-shooting six-gun that is flat-out fun.

Yes. Like any revolver chambered in .44 Magnum, the Anaconda safely fires .44 Special ammunition. Specials are a great way to get cheap, low-recoil practice in, and plenty of owners run them for most range sessions while saving full magnum loads for hunting or the field.
The frame comes drilled and tapped from the factory, so you can add an optic mount and run a red dot without sending it to a gunsmith. Out of the box it wears a red ramp front sight and a rear sight that adjusts for windage and elevation, and the sights themselves can be swapped with a simple Allen key.
They are. The factory Hogue overmolded rubber grips share the same grip frame pattern as the current Colt Python, so any Python-pattern grip will fit. That opens up a huge range of wood, G10, and rubber options if you want to change the look or feel later.
The current production Anaconda was fully redesigned around an oversized version of the Python action with a strengthened stainless frame. The linear leaf spring lockwork gives a smooth, non-stacking double action pull that most folks find noticeably better than the original 1990s guns. It keeps the classic Snake Gun looks while shooting like a modern target revolver.
