Every AR runs a little differently. Different loads, a can on the end, a heavier buffer, all of it changes how much gas your rifle needs to cycle right. The CMMG Zeroed Adjustable Gas Block gives you a way to sort that out without guesswork. It fits AR-15 barrels with a .750" journal and swaps the fixed gas equation for something you can actually tune to your setup.
The adjustment works off a 20-position detent screw up front, so each setting gives you a tactile click instead of a screw that slowly backs itself out over a range session. That range of settings covers the whole spread, from cutting gas way down for suppressed shooting where you want to knock back the extra pressure and gas to the face, to opening it up so a stubborn load has enough oomph to lock the bolt back every time. You adjust it with the included 6" 3/32 hex wrench, and finding your sweet spot is mostly a matter of a few rounds and a couple of clicks.
Adjustable gas blocks have a reputation for carbon locking, where fouling packs into the adjustment mechanism until it won't budge. CMMG built the Zeroed with a sacrificial cleanout chamber that gives excess carbon somewhere to collect, and the whole thing is user-serviceable so you can pull it apart and clean it out instead of fighting a frozen screw down the road.
It's machined from 4140 steel and treated with a nitride finish, which hardens the surface and shrugs off corrosion and the heat that builds up right at the gas port. The low-profile shape tucks under most free-float handguards with no clearance drama, and it pins in place with the included roll pin. At right around an ounce and a half, it won't add any noticeable weight to a build. Solid machining and clean fit are the kind of thing folks notice on this one, and it's an easy upgrade if you want real control over how your rifle runs.
It's built for AR barrels with a .750" gas journal, which is one of the most common diameters out there. Measure your barrel at the gas port area before ordering if you're not sure. If your barrel runs a different diameter like .625" or .875", you'll want to match the block to that instead.
The front adjuster screw has 20 detent settings, each one a distinct click you can feel with the included hex wrench. You start by closing gas down and opening it up a click at a time until your rifle cycles and locks the bolt back reliably. The detent design keeps your setting from drifting under recoil, so once it's dialed in it stays put.
Yes, that's one of the main design points. The Zeroed uses a sacrificial cleanout chamber that gives carbon buildup a place to collect instead of jamming up the adjustment mechanism. The whole block is user-serviceable, so you can disassemble it and clear out the fouling during a normal cleaning.
It's a great match for a suppressed build. Running a can raises back pressure, which usually means more gas, more felt recoil, and more blowback in your face. Turning the gas down on the Zeroed lets you cut that excess so the rifle runs softer and cleaner with the suppressor attached.
