The Dissent MK47 is what happens when CMMG takes their overbuilt Mk47 platform and pairs it with the patented Compact Action from the Dissent line. No buffer tube, no receiver extension hanging off the back, just a genuinely compact 7.62×39 that feeds from AK pattern magazines while keeping the AR-style controls most of us grew up running. This version ships in pistol configuration with a 14.3 inch barrel, and the Zeroed SVD brake is pinned and welded to the muzzle, which brings the barrel length out to 16.1 inches. The Midnight Bronze Cerakote finish looks sharp in person and holds up well against scratches and weather.
Inside, CMMG went big on purpose. Their PowerBolt technology uses a .308 sized bolt with a shortened carrier, so the 7.62×39 cartridge gets handled by parts with plenty of margin built in. The Compact Action tucks dual springs and guide rods into the upper receiver above the bolt carrier, which is how the whole thing runs without a buffer tube. Since AK mags don't lock the bolt back on empty, CMMG added a manual bolt catch so you can still show clear at the range or lock the action open for cleaning. The forward mounted non-reciprocating side charging handle lets you work the action without breaking your grip or coming off target.
The free float M-LOK handguard with full length top Picatinny rail gives you all the room you need for optics, lights, and whatever else you like to hang on a gun. An adjustable gas block means you can dial the system in for a suppressor or tune it to your favorite steel case ammo, and the Zeroed single stage drop-in trigger breaks at a crisp 4.5 pounds with enough hammer energy to light off hard primers. It feeds from standard AK-pattern 7.62×39 magazines, so mags are cheap, plentiful, and easy to find. It ships with two 30 rounders in the box. The enlarged paddle release makes swaps quick, and mag compatibility across brands is generally excellent.
CMMG's patented Compact Action moves the recoil system into the upper receiver, using two springs and guide rods positioned above the bolt carrier. That eliminates the receiver extension entirely while keeping the direct impingement operation reliable. Yes, and better than most in this class. The adjustable gas block lets you dial gas flow down for suppressed shooting or tune it for different ammo, including steel case loads. Keep in mind the Zeroed SVD brake is pinned and welded to the barrel, so plan your mounting setup with that in mind.
Most AK magazines don't have followers designed to trip a bolt catch, so automatic last round hold open depends on the mag. CMMG added a manual bolt catch to the platform, though, so you can lock the action open by hand for range checks or cleaning. Certain mags with hold open followers, like Yugo pattern versions, will engage it on empty.
