The CMMG Dissent is a different animal from a standard AR. Instead of a rear charging handle and a buffer tube out back, it uses CMMG's Compact Action with a forward, non-reciprocating charging handle mounted up in the handguard. From the factory that handle lives on the left side, which is great for a lot of folks but not everyone. That's where this right-hand side charger comes in.
This is the right-side configuration, part number 85BA5E7-R, set up so left-handed shooters can charge the Dissent with their right hand while their dominant hand stays put on the grip and in control. If you shoot southpaw, moving the charging handle to the right side just makes the whole manual of arms feel natural instead of fighting the gun to run it. It drops into the keyed charging slot on the right side of the handguard, and since the design is non-reciprocating, the handle stays still during the firing cycle so nothing slaps or shifts while you're on target.
The stock Dissent charging handle isn't reversible on its own, so if you want to run the action from the opposite side, this is the piece that gets you there. It's machined from aluminum with a black finish that matches the rest of the platform, and it keeps the gun light and low-profile, which is the whole point of the Dissent in the first place.
This unit is built for the direct impingement Mk4 Dissent, so it pairs up with the 5.56 NATO and 300 Blackout guns that run CMMG's Compact Action-Direct Impingement system. Installation is straightforward since the handguard already has a slot cut for it. If you're setting up a Dissent for lefty use or you just prefer working the action from the right side, this is a simple, deliberate upgrade that keeps the platform running the way you want it to.
