The Dissent upper group is CMMG's clever answer to the buffer tube problem. Instead of running a recoil assembly back into the lower like a traditional AR pistol, the entire action and recoil system lives inside the upper receiver itself. That means no buffer tube sticking out the back, and a 1913 Picatinny rail end plate in its place so you can bolt on the brace or stock of your choice. The result is a 5.7x28mm build that's genuinely shorter and less bulky than anything you'd put together the old-fashioned way.
At the heart of it is CMMG's patent-pending Compact Action working alongside their proven Radial Delayed Blowback operating system with a fixed ejector. That combination gives you a softer recoil impulse and a lighter bolt than straight blowback guns, so the little 5.7 round feels even flatter and faster on follow-up shots. The 6.5" barrel wears a 1:9 twist and a 1/2×28 threaded muzzle capped with CMMG's Zeroed Linear Compensator, which pushes gas and concussion forward and keeps muzzle rise in check.
The forward non-reciprocating side charger is a favorite feature. It sits up front, doesn't move when the gun cycles, and lets you charge the action without breaking your sight picture. This one comes set up for left-side charging, though the design is built to be swapped side to side. Both the 7075-T6 receiver and the 4.60" M-LOK handguard wear a durable Armor Black Cerakote finish, giving you a clean, cohesive look plus plenty of room to hang lights, lasers, or a hand stop.
