Most AR-15s are stuck with a buffer tube hanging off the back, which means no true folding stock. CMMG solved that with the DISSENT MK4. Its patented Compact Action moves the entire recoil system into the upper receiver, so the buffer tube is gone completely. The result is a 5.56 NATO rifle that folds down to under 26 inches for the truck, the safe, or a backpack, and shoots noticeably smoother than you'd expect from a standard direct impingement gun.
The forward-mounted side charging handle is non-reciprocating and reversible, so you can run it from either side and charge the rifle without breaking your grip or coming off target. The DISSENT side folding stock gives you 8 length of pull positions, 3 cheek riser heights, and 3 QD sling sockets, so getting a solid cheek weld behind an optic is quick work. CMMG's Zeroed drop-in single stage trigger and 60/90 degree ambi safety come standard, and the whole package weighs in at 6.7 pounds.
The 16.1 inch 4140 chrome moly barrel wears a salt bath nitride finish, a 1:7 twist that stabilizes everything from 55 to 77 grain loads, and 1/2×28 threading with CMMG's Zeroed muzzle brake installed. The adjustable gas block is the real gem here. Dial it down for a suppressor or tune it to your favorite ammo and the gun stays soft and flat either way. Up front, the 15 inch M-LOK handguard with a full-length top Picatinny rail leaves plenty of room for lights, lasers, and hand stops.
