The .22 ARC is one of the more interesting cartridges to hit the AR world in years, pushing velocities in the neighborhood of the classic .22-250 out of a compact, small-frame rifle. The Dissent BR4 gives that speed a home with real character. Instead of the usual pistol grip and buffer tube setup, CMMG built the BR4 lower around a Magpul SGA stock cut in the Remington 870 pattern, so it shoulders like the hunting rifles and shotguns most of us grew up with. A reversible cross-bolt safety sits right above the trigger where your thumb expects it, and it can be flipped for left-handed use.
Under the hood is CMMG's patented Compact Action, a direct impingement system that keeps everything contained in the upper receiver. The forward-mounted side charging handle is non-reciprocating and swaps to either side, and the charging stroke is short and quick once you get used to it. An adjustable gas block lets you tune the rifle to your preferred ammo or dial things back when running a suppressor on the 1/2×28 threaded muzzle, which wears a ZEROED muzzle brake from the factory. The trigger is CMMG's ZEROED drop-in single stage, breaking at a crisp 4.5 pounds with a match-grade feel.
The 16.1 inch 4140CM barrel carries a salt bath nitride treatment and a fast 1:7 twist that stabilizes the heavier .22 ARC bullets that make the cartridge shine at distance. Billet 7075-T6 aluminum receivers wear a Coyote Tan Cerakote finish, and the 15 inch M-LOK handguard leaves plenty of room for lights, bipods, or a hand stop. At 8 pounds with a 38.1 inch overall length, it carries well for varmint work, predator hunting, or long afternoons at the range. Two CMMG 10-round magazines come in the box, and the whole rifle is backed by CMMG's Lifetime Quality Guarantee.
The .22 ARC is a modern high-velocity .22 caliber centerfire that delivers ballistics in the same territory as the .22-250, but from a standard small-frame AR action. That means flat trajectories and serious reach for varmints and predators without stepping up to a bigger, heavier rifle. The BR4's fast 1:7 twist barrel handles the heavier, high-BC bullets the cartridge was designed around.
