The CMC Two-Stage Curved Trigger takes one of the biggest weak points on a factory AR and fixes it in about five minutes. This is a completely self-contained fire control group, meaning the whole unit ships as one machined cassette that drops straight into your lower. You pin it in, run a safety check, and you are done. No stoning, no fitting, no spring swaps. The two-stage setup runs a 2 lb first stage that lets you take up the slack and settle in, then a defined break wall followed by a crisp 2 lb second-stage release. That predictability is why a lot of folks reach for a two-stage on a precision or DMR-style build where a clean, repeatable pull matters more than raw speed.
CMC builds these from 8620 alloy steel and S7 tool steel, so the wear surfaces hold up round after round. The curved trigger bow has a familiar feel that carries over from a mil-spec shoe, which makes the transition easy if you are used to a standard AR trigger and just want a much better version of it. Expect minimal lock time, a glass-smooth break with no gritty creep, and a positive reset you can feel for fast, confident follow-up shots.
This is the small-pin model, built for the .154 inch trigger and hammer pin holes found in most standard mil-spec AR-15, AR-10, and LR-308 lowers. If your rifle is not a Colt, or it is a Colt built before 1991 or after 2009, you are almost certainly running small pins. Worth knowing: CMC does not recommend this trigger with 5.45×39 uppers, and some heavier .308 AR platforms may need a stiffer pull to run reliably.

This is the small-pin version, so it fits standard mil-spec AR-15, AR-10, and LR-308 lowers that use .154 inch trigger and hammer pin holes. Most modern ARs use small pins unless you have a Colt built between 1991 and late 2009, which typically uses large pins. If you are not sure, you can push a pin partway out of your lower and measure it, .154 for small and .172 for large.
It is one of the easiest upgrades you can do to an AR. A two-stage trigger breaks the pull into two parts. That staged feel gives you a consistent, predictable pull that many find ideal for precision and marksman-style shooting.
The trigger installs with standard trigger and hammer pins, so it does not require anti-walk pins to function. That said, CMC sells a matching small-pin anti-walk pin set that threads in on both sides to keep the pins from working loose over time, which is a popular add-on for drop-in cassette triggers. If your current pins fit snugly you are fine, but anti-walk pins are a nice bit of insurance.
