Description

Some revolvers are built to sit in a safe, and some are built to be shown off and shot. The Cimarron Frontier Teddy Roosevelt manages both. This is a faithful reproduction of the 1873 Colt single action, built by Pietta in Italy on Cimarron's Pre-War frame, then dressed up with a polished nickel plate and a laser-engraved pattern inspired by Theodore Roosevelt's own famously ornate sixguns. The scrollwork runs across the barrel, cylinder, and frame, and the one-piece poly ivory grip carries the initials "T.R." to finish the look. It draws a crowd every time it comes out of the case.

A Working Sixgun, Not Just a Showpiece

Underneath the engraving is a proper Pre-War series Frontier. That means a steel frame patterned after the 1896 to 1940 production guns, a half-moon ejector head, and a spring-loaded push pin through the frame that secures the base pin. The 7.5" round barrel gives you the classic cavalry profile, a longer sight radius over the fixed blade front sight, and enough weight out front to keep .45 Colt recoil pleasant. At around 43 ounces, it settles into the hand nicely and hangs steady on target, whether you are ringing steel or working through a cowboy action stage.

Traditional Feel from Hammer to Trigger

This one runs a traditional four-click action with no transfer bar, so you get that satisfying C-O-L-T cadence when you thumb the hammer back, just like the originals. Owners consistently describe the action as smooth right out of the box, and the roughly 4.5 pound trigger breaks clean for a single action in this class. Like any classic-pattern sixgun without a transfer bar, the time-honored practice is to carry it with five rounds and the hammer down on an empty chamber.

Why the Cimarron Teddy Roosevelt Stands Out

Between the mirror-bright nickel, the wall-to-wall engraving, and the historical tie-in, this revolver punches well above its price point compared to custom engraving work. It makes a fine centerpiece for a collection, a memorable gift, and a genuinely fun range gun in one package.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who makes the Cimarron Teddy Roosevelt Frontier revolver?

Cimarron partners with F.lli Pietta of Italy to build this one. Pietta has decades of experience producing 1873 Colt reproductions, and Cimarron holds them to close tolerances and authentic Pre-War frame details. The result is a faithful, well-fitted single action that stays true to the original design.

Is the engraving on the PP415LNTRII hand-cut or laser applied?

The scrollwork on the barrel, cylinder, and frame is laser engraved. The pattern is inspired by the ornate presentation revolvers associated with Theodore Roosevelt, and laser application keeps the coverage crisp and consistent at a fraction of the cost of hand engraving. The grips also carry laser-engraved "T.R." initials.

Does this revolver have a transfer bar safety?

No, this is a traditional four-click action just like the original 1873 pattern, with no transfer bar. That gives it an authentic feel and hammer cadence that a lot of single action fans specifically look for. The long-standing practice with this style of revolver is to load five rounds and rest the hammer on an empty chamber when carrying it.

Is the Cimarron Teddy Roosevelt just a display gun or can I shoot it regularly?

It shoots as well as it looks. The 7.5" barrel and 43 ounce heft make .45 Colt recoil easy to manage, and owners report smooth actions and solid accuracy at typical range distances. Plenty of folks run these in cowboy action matches, where the engraved nickel finish tends to turn heads.
