Description

There's a certain kind of hunter who wants a rifle that looks like the one their dad carried but shoots like something out of a precision rifle match. That's exactly who Christensen Arms built the Traverse for. The Monte Carlo style stock gives it that timeless sporter profile, but it's molded from carbon fiber composite in black with gray webbing, so you get the classic lines without the walnut weight. At around 7.3 pounds bare, it's a rifle you can pack deep into elk country without regretting it by mile three.

The Barrel That Made Christensen Arms Famous

The heart of this rifle is a 416R stainless steel barrel wrapped in aerograde carbon fiber, the design Christensen pioneered back when they were still better known for aerospace parts. The 24 inch light target contour tube is button rifled, hand lapped, free floated, and cut with a match chamber, and the 1:8 twist stabilizes the heavy, high BC bullets that make 6.5 Creedmoor such a favorite for long range hunting. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 and wears a removable stainless side-baffle brake, so you can run it braked, capped, or with a suppressor.

An Action Built for Real Field Use

The 416 stainless billet receiver carries a spiral fluted, nitride treated twin lug bolt with an M16 style extractor, dual ejectors, and an enlarged handle that's easy to run with gloves on. A TriggerTech trigger breaks clean between 2.5 and 3.5 pounds, and rounds feed from a 4+1 internal box magazine with a machined aluminum hinged floorplate. A 0-MOA Picatinny rail comes mounted up top for your optic, and there's a rail section under the forend for a bipod.

Why the Traverse Earns Its Keep

Christensen backs this rifle with their Sub-MOA guarantee, and the raised comb on that Monte Carlo stock puts your eye right behind a scope naturally. If your hunting involves long glassing sessions, longer hikes, and the occasional shot across a canyon, this one deserves a hard look.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Christensen Arms Traverse suppressor ready?

Yes. The 24 inch barrel is threaded 5/8×24, which is the standard pitch for most 6.5mm and .30 caliber suppressors and muzzle devices. The factory side-baffle brake spins right off, so you can swap in a can or a direct-thread mount without any gunsmithing.

Does the Traverse use a detachable magazine?

No, this model feeds from a 4+1 internal box magazine with a machined aluminum hinged floorplate. It keeps the rifle's belly slim for carrying and gives it that traditional hunting rifle profile. Unloading is quick since the floorplate drops the rounds out without cycling them through the action.

How accurate is the Traverse in 6.5 Creedmoor?

Christensen Arms backs the Traverse with a Sub-MOA guarantee, meaning it should print groups under an inch at 100 yards with quality ammunition. The hand lapped, free floated barrel with a match chamber and the TriggerTech trigger do a lot of the heavy lifting there. The 1:8 twist handles the 140 to 147 grain bullets most people shoot in this cartridge.

Does the Christensen Traverse come with a scope mount?

It ships with a 0-MOA Picatinny rail already on the receiver, so all you need are rings and a scope. There's also a short rail section on the underside of the forend for mounting a bipod. The raised Monte Carlo comb lines your eye up well with scopes mounted at typical heights.
